Hi having no luck at all,
I bought a diff from a member last year and it seems it is no good as just fitted and after 300miles is whining very loudly. No clunks though.
It does this under and off load the noise changes but is still there.
I have Durablend 75w-90 semi synthetic in it is at correct level..
The backlash felt ok before I put diff in but did not check wipe paterns etc,
It looks like it may be pinion bearing acording to what I have read which is a major job.
Any body got a quiet!!! proven R200 3.7 diff for sale.
Don't want to buy any more dodgy 2nd hand stuff.
Can some one confirm what the pinion bearing preload should be and total bearing preload?
I have viewed and read some decent pics on diff setup and think I may be able to do it myself as long as bearings etc are availiable.
Could also some one confirm that the r200 diff does not use a crushable spacer to setup pionion bearing preload?
For if it has this is what has caused the problem as someone has previoulsy relace the seal and just torqued up the bolt, as the bolt is very new looking.
Alternativly how much whould it cost to get a specialist to set it up again?
Grateful for any help and tips or parts
