Anybody else seen this article yet?

A 3ltr Capri is compared to Dean's 240Z.

Good article written by Paul Hardiman.

Guess which he likes best?

Yes Rob bought it in tescos the other day did you or did you have the flick page free version ;)

Yes the man thought the 240 more refined, poky and handled better, goes without saying really

Terry, you've spoilt the tension now :smash:

I have a foldaway stool and a flask I use in shops now when reading the mags.

I've bought quite a few mags lately (and I subscribe to Motorsport News). I tend to buy very old mags off ebay (60s and 70s) they are really interesting to an old git like me.

I got a 1969 copy of Motor Sport this week. It featured a road test on a 1600 Datsun saloon P510. It sarted by saying: It would be understandable but foolish to ignore the Japanese car industry!!!!!

We never learnt from the demise of the Motorbike industry did we?

Anyway in the Classic and Sports Car there is a small report on the Mdina GP which my 240Z did and came second - not a mention!! But it shows a picture of John Burton's modified E Type and says it was the fasted Post War car - rubbish, he was 1st in the over 4ltr class but 3 secs behind my 240Z! What it must be like to own a Jag. ;)

Just bought the 1954 Motor Sport Dec issue.

Has a picture of my Dad driving in the London to Brighton Run

Dad is still going strong and asked if I could find a copy on the internet.

In fact Terry you bought his 'Battledress' booklet didn't you, that has a bit about the veteran car in it.

I've a very nice 3000e mk1 in my garage.
Not really a comparison v 240z for the drive.
But it still has bags of charm and grunt.
And room for the kids.

I'd have compared the Capri to a 260Z 2+2 as they're both 4 seaters !

The Z 'might' have lost out to 60 but once going would be more than respectable.

VERY pretty........but a 260 looks and feels much more modern...typical criticism of Nissans right up to the R32 - ''it does its' job too well'' !

A very tidy car and typically adorned with accessories of it's time. Classic

Thank you Steve.

It only just gets away with the accessories imo Rob.
Arthur, the first owner went nuts back in the 70's with add ons.
And it's a bit of museum piece really.
Never restored and genuinally like new.
60k genuine miles (service records include every journey made to a tenth of a mile!!)
Had some lovely trips out with the family this summer.
And the public love it.
Its Scratched the itch ......until the 240 arrives.

Looks great but I would put some rostyles on it and maybe try to remove some add-ons. It's strictly my opinion though. The owner should ALWAYS do what he likes with his car.

Hi,
All comments welcome, no problem.

Most add ons i'd like to take of would involve new paint.
The bonnet pins, metal wing emblems, mirrors etc.
But it's the original paint.

And in the flesh Robs right, it sort of all adds to the charm and nostalgia.

Rostyles would suit the car, but it's sat on these GKN wheels with the original invoice in the huge file that came with it.
I'm still in touch with the original owner (I'm 3rd owner) and feel a sense of loyalty to him, as it was his pride and joy in his heated carpeted garage!!

Love to give it PAS and a 5 speed one day though.
