Goodwood Breakfast club - March 6,2011

Had a great morning at Goodwood. Superb event for anyone interested in cars. Had to park in the public car park as the Z didn't meet their requirements. Did a couple of lap round the circuit and left my mark (twin black lines :)) to show I'd been there. Actually, I left these marks at various location on the way there and back. Well, you have to keep these track tyres up to temperature some how! Anyway, a great morning was finished off by stopping off at the "half way house" for the monthly Z meet.

Also managed to check my fuel consumption and managed over 200 miles on 35lt, so not bad considering the abuse it took (we didn't hang around).

Saw a burgandy G-nose with black wheels there. Was that you Alan?

Certainly a good day though cold.

Saw the G nose & hung around a while but no show.

Croeso - found a guy with a Jag hat, and felt a right numpty when I asked if was you, and it wasn't :D

Sorry we missed you tom and johny. We had breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 then wandered around checking out the cars and trying to stay warm. I saw the g nose 240Z and had a nice chat with the owner Jane.

John, what did you think of the circuit? I like Goodwood - I've had two official Z Club Trackdays there.

Am sure Alans G-nose is a K plate.

This would be the other one then that was discussed recently - the one that was originally Grand Prix White and has a lady owner.

Alan's also has a roll cage and the sports option seats - which this one doesn't appear to have.

No problems about missing you lads.

Regarding the AC Frua, we overheard the driver/owner wanted a burger, and as he was in a wheel chair asked a photgraher to get him a burger, in exchange for a ride round the track at the end of the day :driving: - lucky bugger!

Yes, this one is the recent import ( last year ), 1973 build date, and used to be GP White.

Owner Jane is the ex-owner of my GP Maroon 1972 build date car.

I also own another 1972 build date 240ZG, and its original colour was GP White.

Confusing isn't it?!

Here's what Jane's car looked like when it was imported. Personally I'd have left it the factory colour, as I think it suits the ZG and looks very 'Japanese' ( if that makes sense ). 240ZG definitely looks better with the factory headlamp covers, I think:

I didn't realise she was the previous owner of your car Alan. Obviously she was missing your car and needed to scratch the ZG itch again! :D

I have to agree about her car's original colour too - although I love the maroon personally, it does look very nice in white in those pics - but the headlight covers definitely need to be there! Edit: in those photos, would I be right in saying the lower section of the G nose has been trimmed slightly in the front of the arches to increase clearance (I know you've mentioned this as quite common on a thread on classiczcars I think)?

I remember you snapping up the other white ZG a while back - have you done anything with it yet or have any tentative plans for it in your mind's eye?

Really sorry Tom, the wife cleaned out the boot of the car and took me jag baseball cap out. could have really done with it first thing as me head was cold..!

More piccies please!!

Should have got your arse out of bed then and got down there and took some pics, no excuse really as you only live down the road from Goodwood....!!!

I am currently uploading my pics, took about 200 and will post a photobucket link later.
dont get too excited as I takes pics of anything with wheels on it. :)

I like the fact its a high speed circuit and I think it would suit my car more than one with lots of tight bends. I've never done a track day and only been on 2 circuits, both were slow speed laps so this year will be a learning year. I can't wait!
