Stuck-up 350 drivers!

Well is it me that's 'sad' for expecting fellow 350 drivers to return a wave or are they/we stuck-up and too important to do things like that?

Saw one coming the other way today so I gave a discreet wave and got 'blanked-out'. I've only ever seen about 20 on the road with me and only ONE has ever returned a wave. So I suppose next time when I decide to ignore them the other driver will wave and make me feel guilty.

Perhaps it's just a generation thing this waving business :(

If I drove a Micra I wouldn't bother of course so perhaps I'm stuck-up too.

I've had the same Rob, when I've been in the 260. I've given them a 'knowing' wave (and to a 370 driver too) and got the same blanking!

But in the same vein, had a multiple horn blast and vigorous wave from a 300 driver, so you never can tell.

The most depressing thing is getting loads of attention from middle aged men, and no attention from sexy young ladies!

Maybe I should buy a Porsche. . . . . . . Yeah, right! lol

Most (and there are a lot of 'em out there so that allows for a small margin of knowledgeable drivers) 350 and probably all 370 owners don't even know what an S30 is and certainly not that it's related !

Fact of life ! But to be fair, over here even the Z32s drive by with their noses in the air !

Yeah to be fair before I joined 300zx.co.uk. I never knew about the older Zeds (which is how I found this place through another site). Not everyone who buys cars are interested in the whole club scene so would have no reason to know about any heritage.

Just in case there is any confusion here I mean when I'm driving my 350 not 240. They don't even want to recognise like- for-like.
Dale, the ladies seem to like the 350 and have a good luck until they see a bald headed 57 year old in the driving seat :(. It doesn't matter if you're well hung or not they can't see that low! ;)

my mum had a new mini when they were first introduced, she commented on how all the people in other Minis were waving and how starnge it was. Some people just never understand the whole obsession with car ownership.

Hi Rob its a Car thing people who have bought 350s are sometimes, I hate to say alike To AUDI TT drivers Ahh AAH, and sometimes are registered as company cars for their EXCUTIVES ha ha, they dont give a toss what car it is as long as the registration is new, And dont you find people are getting so aggressive these days, especially if your in the 350 I suppose its people who just want to look in the boot !!

I had a really funny situation the other day - I was driving at night along the new by-pass around Rugeley Staffs, by the Power Station. Clear open road but 50mph speed limit. I was cruising along minding my own business and this weird car came right up behind me - then it overtook screaming it's head off, it was a Reliant Regal van (Delboy type)! It had spot lights, reversing lights, roof spoiler! and all sorts of add-ons.

When we came to the first roundabout he had to brake hard of course and struggled to get round, then he was off again! The only reason I had to brake was to avoid hitting the back of him. Anyway at the next roundabout he turned right - saw then he was an old chap (well probably my age actually). I laughed out loud in my car it was so funny. I bet the next day he told his mates how he 'did' a 350Z on the bypass

A guy around the corner from me has a silver 350z with nice wheels, which he only seems to use on dry sunny days.
I've driven past his house in my 280ZX whilst he's been in the driveway cleaning it, but you can see from his face that he doesn't recognise my car what so ever!
He looks like he might have bought a BMW or Audi, but just happens to have a 350Z!....I doubt BMW or Audi drivers wave to each other either!

I'm going to duck for cover here, I think it an English thing as well because speaking from a bikers point, when up in Scotland ever Biker waves and when your stopped will speak about your trip out and roads etc... As soon as you cross the border it changes to the "Virtual nod" and seem to become weaker the further south you get. In Scotland I have had a lot of other Nissan owner 200sx, Micra, 4x4's and Z32 350z all wave when out in the 280. Where as down here I get blanked or worse they try it on at the lights which is a bit lame really. But I also think the attitude of car users is not the same as the attitude of DRIVERS if you know what I mean. Some people just use cars not appreciate them or the herritage of the cars that came before there model. I do agree though Sad days are drawing in.

Dare I say that I think it may just be an English thing. When I'm out and about in any of my old 'uns I get absolutely loads of nods and waves from all sorts of drivers and pedestrians alike. I do also agree that most 350 drivers don't have the first inkling of what a S30 is and even when its explained to them they seem to struggle to grasp the relationship between Datsun and Nissan. When I joined the 350Z run a few months back many of the guys didn't know what the relevence of the 240Z was.

You could always take a look at that TV prog "Look 10 years younger" & see if that makes any difference.

& you wouldn't find Focus ST owners waving at all other Focus's else they'd find it hard changing gear.
You have just got to face the facts Rob, Most 350 owners don't give a toss about clubs & comaradie.:driving:

Most 350 owners don't give a toss about clubs & comaradie.

Do you have any idea how many THOUSANDS of members the 350Z Clubs in this country have, let alone world-wide? How many hundreds are we in the Z Club?

I attended a 350Z specific meeting the other day - just a simple nosh at the Ace Cafe on a Saturday morning. There were fifty cars present - all enthusiasts, all friendly, all there because they love the car and the camaraderie of the Club thing.

The only sense in which your comment is correct is that out of 5000+ 350 owners in the UK, more are non-Club type people than we have Z Club members.

Carry on alienating why don't you?

Ok Mike I get your point but having been a car enthusiast since childhood and now driving the best car ever I can't understand why every other 350Z driver ignores me:unsure:.

When I drove a VW camper every single one would get enthusiastic when they saw a 'fellow' enthusiast.

350Zs are fine cars that require skill to drive smoothly and stay on the road in damp conditions, why are most of the drivers so numb?

I'm sure they see acknowlegment as 'sad' and embarrassing.

If I waved at you Mike would you respond - an honest answer please?

Perhaps 350 owners are a new breed that don't know that they are supposed to wave, could you see if they were young or not?

I often exchange waves with other 350Z drivers. However, bear in mind the number of 350Zs on the road and their (relative) non-exclusivity. There will be many owners who own it as a car, not as an icon.

Rob if its waves and acknowlegdement you crave next time your in traffic and you see a real motorcyclist coming along the white line, just pull over a bit and and they will wave happily 350z or not :)

Tel, yes I do that anyway - I was a motorcylist for about 5 years.
