Sad Samuri

There's 225 registered 240z in the uk and 42 cars on the Samuri register less an odd Celica and a scrapper in Russia that's quite a high percentage
Where do these figures come from
As according to Spike there were allegedly 74 +1 Full Super Sams done and for 42 to survive today seems IMHO very doubtful

How ? I believe he did not keep a register of all the cars he built. Samuri also sold heads brakes etc etc so people who bought these parts then called their cars Samuri's . I told you its a minefield :D. As for a certificate I have never seen one but my mate had one with his the reg was GAW ***M.

Maybe this is why so many seem to be 'left' and the suggestions of 'cash for questions'

I,m just quoting the number of cars on the Samuri register. To be fair some do say that their present whereabouts is unknown

And its the same in the states with the shelby mustangs and other special edition muscle cars ,old corvettes etc.
They have more on the register or claims than we're actually built/recorded.

As far as I know, and I speak to Mike Lee regularly, the certificates are quite new and only recently issued. I have had five in my possession lately and sent them to the relevant owners on Spike's behalf. Who was your 'mate' that had the certificate you mention but never actually showed you it?? The owner of GAW 105M has the certificate for his car of this I can assure you.

What confuses me is the specification of an original Samuri taken from the Spike Biography where it states allegedly from Spike actual words

Specification 1
The original Super Samuri of which 62 where made

Engine:-
Modified cylinder head
Six-branch GDS exhaust manifold and system
Three 40DCOE Weber or Dell@Orto carburettors

Alloy wheels

Lowered and up-rated suspension

Samuri livery

A later addition:-
four pot calipers, vented discs and front air dam

So according to Spike any car that is not painted in the Red and Bronze livery is not a Super Samuri so where does that leave the blue and silver example and quite a few others

As according to Spike if no red and bronze paint scheme its not a Sam

Coming up with a distinctive identity was proving a real problem I wanted something to call my own
>snip<
apopular color for Zs was red 110 we tried every colour under the sun
>snip<
Vicky pointed out a nice dark bronzy colour to put on the bonnet
<snip<It looked awful so decided to add a white coach line to it to stop colour bending into each other

not an exact word for word copy but near enough

My mate Norman Roberts here in Oswestry owned the car in the late 80's when we worked at Thunder & Colt. the car was painted gold all over, a carb back fired on his way to work one day & gutted the engine bay so it was then sold to a guy in Craven Arms who rebuilt it & painted it red with a black bonnet, he kept for many years, last I heard it was sold at auction in Leominster a few years back I think it was mentioned on here at the time

The Russian car was in a bonded customs wearhouse in Volkhiv city, 120km from St Petersburg. Sadly I have news this morning, that it has been scrapped.
Its a pity.

As I'm not sure whether the person who now has the car actually wants the fact to be publicised, I'll have to keep quiet for now.

The car is still in Russia.
