Fairlady Z 200Z (Z31) / Fairlady Z 200ZS (Z31) / Fairlady Z 200ZG (Z31)

The z31 was introduced in 1983. These Japan-only models came with the 2 litre VG20ET with the 200Z being the base model with minimal creature comforts. The 200ZS was the next model up with extras like air conditioning, power windows and central locking. The 200ZG was very similar but came with the option of a targa roof.

Also launched in 1983 in the same versions – the 4 seater version of the JDM 2 litre Z31.

 

Fairlady Z 200ZR (PZ31)

In 1985 and also exclusive to Japan, the 200ZR debuted. Nissan swapped in the famous RB20DET into the Z31, it also had higher speed limiter, stiffer suspension, and a limited slip differential.

Also launched in 1985, the 4 seater version of the 200ZR.

 

Fairlady Z 300ZX (HZ31) / 300ZX (HZ31, HLZ31) / 300ZX-GL (HZ31J, HLZ31) / 300ZX-GLL (HZ31X, HLZ31X)

 

Launched alongside the other Z31 models in 1983, the 300ZX was powered by the 3l VG30E / VG30ET V6 engine and was the main export model. Available in 3 trim levels, Base, GL, & GLL. GL models had extras like cruise control, electric windows and mirrors whilst GLL models increased the spec further with digital instruments and leather interiors. In 1984, a “Special 50th Anniversary Edition”300ZX with a Silver/Black colour scheme was offered in the US, Canadian and Australian markets.

Also launched in 1983 and available in the same trim levels, the 4 seater version of the 300zx.

Fairlady Z 200ZR I (PZ31) / Fairlady Z 200ZR II (PZ31)

In ’87 the Z31 body was given a restyle that included more aerodynamic bumpers, new front and rear lights. ‘I’ models were slicktops whilst ‘II’ models had targa tops.

 The 4-seater, face-lifted version of the 200ZR which was available in the same two versions as the coupe.

 

Fairlady Z 300ZR (PZ31)

Launched alongside the facelifted models, the 300ZR was fitted with the 3L DOHC V6 engine.

The 300ZX also received the same facelift and the other models. Another special edition was released in 1988 – the turbocharged Shiro Special debuted with pearl white paint, uprated suspension, Recaro seats and a viscous limited-slip differential.
