Right so been zinc plating and passivating some parts - its not quick but its fun, takes a long time to get the parts clean enough to coat using a wire wheel and sandpaper. Took a few attempts to get the method correct that I found easiest and that yields the best results but I'm happy now...

Some pictures:

Repaired interior panel shot here too..

Managed to get some of the mini welting which fitted nicely in place of the old hard fender seals:

The most expensive seals I've ever purchased:

Lots of new bushes:

All my parts back from the powdercoaters:

And found a S14a box locally:

It's coming along nicely Dan.

The car is the complete opposite to the one you had before.

Absolutely is, it's so rewarding rebuilding this to an original ish standard too and great not having to drill out all the old bolts to put things back together.

I was hopeful to have it rolling by the end of this weekend but I totally forgot my shocks are cream crackered so I need to put some new ones on order.

I wonder what will pair nice with your springs? Google search required I think.

Thanks Richie, that's the one I think,

Wish Id bought it separately if I'm honest but it didn't work out too different ordering as a kit. The buckets are fine for most things but I've had to use an odd shaped tray for doing my original fuel line - there was nothing wrong with it so not replacing.

Plated brake hardware:

And fitted everything:

Started stripping suspension down too, I have an R200 diff assembly that's a 3.7 which I'm debating sticking in but unsure - I know Pete wants this for Steve's racecar too so don't want to hold them up building anything if people think I should stick to looking for another R180 but of the 3.9 variant?

What do you want a big heavy r200 for? That's what I'd be asking!

Regretted selling anything so far it seems so didn't want to get rid of it just in case...

But also would rather it went to a more useful cause than me hoarding parts..

I like the Subaru diff idea but I can't justify the cost currently.

Not updated for awhile but will throw some pics on at the weekend.

All my new interior covers have come (minus seat covers.. )

Rear diff is in, front suspension all on and nicely refurbished, got one rear leg on last weekend with new brakes/hoses and cleaned everything up hopefully finish the other side tomorrow and get everything tightened up so I can drop it back on the floor.

Engines been painted, re-ringed the pistons, new shells throughout and will do the head work maybe this weekend or next. Gearbox is ready to have the bell housing fitted but need to get it modified so will take that over Friday afternoon.

Tailgate is fitted along with the glass and stainless trim, its not quite adjusted correctly - Its as it left the factory with the original spacers in however it doesn't fit flush at the bottom, does anyone else have this? I was going to machine some more spacers up to push it higher up into the roof line.

Also in the process of moving so hoping to get this into my new larger garage once I've moved so can finish the interior through the winter in a bit more of an organised space (hopefully a bit warmer too...!)

We will get there! Its taken me just over 6 months to get to this stage from a tatty looking complete car from California. Longer than I expected but I think in another 3-6 months it will be completed.
