So is the base from a 240 different to a 280?

Can it be made to fit? or is the timing chain cover totally different?

Timing cover is the same - i think it's the orientation of where the timing adjuster holes are on the dizzy and mount.

Here's an example, although not 240Z versus 280ZX - in this case 280Z versus 280ZX:



Same scenario applies for 240Z though. You need to use the ZX base (which is straight bolt-on) and plate to have the adjustment slots and the arm for the clamping bolt in the right place.

Ah, I see. So you can use the 240z base on a 280zx distributer but you will have to make adjustments to suit.

I'd think he'd be on to the next fantasy by now, but I haven't seen his blue hoses and cam cover come up on ebay yet, so maybe?
