Rally car at auction

Don't know if anyone's seen this, but looks like a sensible reserve....!

I noticed this yesterday. I'll pop along to see how it goes.

See if you can get the VIN number off it John 😀
That does seem a very low guide price compared to some of the figures we hear.

That's Hugh Myres old car - surely it will sell for a lot more than that!

http://zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16240

I think they put low guides to draw people in.

I may join you John!

That's not a reserve figure JK and the guide is not sensible IMO much too cheap unless it's a rolling shell!

If it was LHD it would be worth much more.

Depends on the auction house Rob, most reserves are usually somewhere between lower and upper estimates....but it does look value.

Agree it looks silly cheap for a rally-prepped car. Still, this will be interesting to see how it goes. There's increasing chatter about the classic market stalling, cars not selling, prices facing resistance. This could be an interesting bellweather in a Z context.

Quoted on the original thread I saw on Facebook when I mentioned it being a low estimate, typically it's a bit early for me, if this was February I'd be heading to Essex for a bid....!

"And all ECCA estimates encompass the vendors reserve "

No way is this going for anything like the price(s) quoted ... it’s to draw the punters in.

I've bought a car from this auction before and attended to show support for an up and coming auction house that is owned by a friend of a friend. Initially a lot of the cars were part of the owners private collection and some were sold at well below the value in order to get the business off the ground. It has now grown a bit so prices are on the up but I still believe its the place to find a bargain. I'll be going to look at a couple of lots for a friend.

I believe there will be a lot of interest in the zed and it will sell for its market value (Whatever that is!).

My 'gut' feeling is that a 'proper' rally car should fetch at least 30k. This is a proper car i.e. it can be driven in anger on a forest stage rally. My 'regularity rally car' can be driven on an event like the Historic Monte. It doesn't have the ride height, suspension travel, tank/exhaust protection, rear brakes, lighting etc that a forest rally car needs.

However this car will have had a hard life (I have seen it on a rally) and I know it's had a heavy front-end argument with a tree so it has been repaired. If someone wants to 'stage' rally one of these then it's a very good starting point.

The guy interested in my car wants to do regularity (HERO) events and my car would be perfect for him (which he knows) however the 'estimate' is the draw with this one.

It will be interesting to see what it sells for and it's current condition. Anything under 20k will be a bargain.

Rob, whats the difference between your blue car and other modified cars that makes yours a 'regularity' car?
