[QUOTE=johnymd;278128]With the price of samuri, would this be a required item to go in your sam that doesn't have its original sam spec engine?

There must be some samuri shells or full cars in need of resto that are still out there. That the owners don't want to sell. These cars may need a engine but it's a 2.8 he selling tho fort big sam only had this engine size???

Yeah if you want period performance but you could only claim it having a samuri spec engine in your zed

With all the paperwork that goes with this engine/head - yes because THAT's what buyers want - a known make or name....so yes Matt, this engine in a Sammy (and only because of the letters) will increase a sam's value....hence why the seller (he aint stupid) has put a strong price.

Jeez, Alan'll slit his wrists when he sees how we're all talking rad and brown the moment he turns his back and goes off to Spain on holiday.

What book? can't you just paste the spec here? From my limited knowledge there wasn't a spec for the cars at all? Some had carbs and an exhaust, some had carbs/engine work/cut down springs, some had effort put into them. all samurais?

That's wot buyers want,it's all bollox really ain't it,plenty of Zeds for sale including a samuri so it seems there ain't any buyers out there anyway,I'll stick with my 3.1 thanks,if it was a Ford lump it would've gone in an instant, just not the market out there it seems that some think there is and others asking silly money, hence still for sale ,cars and parts, dream on campers

Over the years when I used to go to car shows such as Ashby Foleville etc I met more than a handful of car enthusiasts who were under the impression that "Samuri" was an officially sanctioned Nissan variant of the S30

Comments such as "shame its not a Samuri", "My Dad had one, it had 300 horse power" and "Nissan didn't make very many" were not uncommon, I used to try and correct them, informing them that they weren't anything to do with Nissan/Datsun and were "produced" by a private enterprise on a case by case basis using what was on the shelf at the time and they weren't bad efforts for a man in a shed with a die grinder, but it fell on deaf ears..... rose coloured spectacles and all that, I sometimes wonder if those same people frequent this forum.
