Thanks everyone for your comments, just had to share with you.

Imustaveit: the car was dealer optioned with the slot mags, it is on the original sales contract for $289
I have heard that most dealers set stacks of stock wheels and hub caps on the side of the building for years. Lucky, I have several sets of stock wheels and hub caps that I have been buying for years.

Ibanezdan51: lucky that these are stick on and not riveted side moldings.

Uk66fastback: I checked before buying, the seats are perfect under the seat covers.

MaximG: yes, it offers a little character to the o'l girl.

Hopefully your detail guy will bring that paint back without too many problems. Looking forward to seeing it when ready for sale ...

She was a smart lady too, traded in a 68 Olds for a Datsun Zed.

Started the back breaking task of engine compartment clean up. I hate leaning over the wings for hours at a time wiping down 40 years of dirt and grime build up but has to be done. Just look at the condition of the paint in the engine box. Lovely!!!

That looks like Southern California for sure.

I'm a Nor-Cal guy with a nasty image in my head now.

I'm thinking of trying BAT auction if they will have me and the reserve they want is reasonable.

Max publicité, nice story - sounds like a great idea.

What if the daughter sees the auction - how do you react ?

Like a gentleman of course.

She asked if I was keeping the car and I told her that after I made the necessary mechanical repairs to get the car drivable, it would probably go down the road.

BAT has Zs going through on a regular basis and most are not in same league as your's Mike so I think it would do really well. Great colour ( amazing how fashions and tastes come around again, few year ago you couldnt give brown or white cars away, now full circle ) and original paint, holy grail car !

Perfect BaT car Mike. Odd battle scar adds to the deal with the original paint ... no-one will need to talk this one up. Looking forward to seeing it on there if it happens.

Totally agree with the colour statement of brown and white cars Chris.

I see you have been following the green car on BAT.

I do wonder if the Zeds on BAT have reached a saturation point for the BAT regulars.

I am also concerned that they are demanding very low reserves too which may throw a wrench in the deal as well. I'll let you know what their response is when I submit it.

That green car wasn't all that Mike - I know BaT regulars like to wax lyrical about seemingly every Z that makes it for auction there but I couldn't understand the enthusiasm for the green one, I really couldn't.

Sure, it was a nice example, but that was about all - looked like it had had a complete respray many years ago for me as well. this one here is much nicer, with original paint as well ...

No idea what the reserve would have been on the green one, but I'm sure they'll give you an idea of what yours should be - and you'll have your own idea of course.
