Jou 1p - 260z 2+2

Hi,
I am trying to track down JOU 1P, originally white 260Z 2+2 in wiltshire. I understand it was blue some years later. Anyone owned or know where she maybe? Mu father used to own it 20 years ago and spent 3 years and 1 wife bringing her up to near concours! If anyone has any information that would be great.

From the DVLA,

The vehicle details for JOU 1P are:

Date of Liability 01 12 1992
Date of First Registration 01 08 1975
Year of Manufacture 1975
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2565CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLUE

From that, it's either been and still is sitting in a barn somewhere for nearly twenty years, a race car of some type, exported, or is in rust heaven with most of the others. It hasn't been on the road in the UK since 1992 though. Sorry.

Thanks for that info - DVLA website is useful!

Looks like all hope is lost! Hopefully someone has it in a barn somewhere ready for restoration!

The search continues!

Any news on the old girl?

Hi All, the search continues....10 years ive been trying to track down JOU 1P and still no joy.
The DVLA shows it as untaxed so its not officially been scrapped, just thought id ask the question again- has anyone happened upon a UK 260z 2+2 originally white but last known colour was blue, reg number JOU1P?
Its probably rusting away somewhere and perhaps not much is left.......Any clues would be gratefully received...thanks guys.

Possibly reregistered with a private plate?

If cars are dismantled/scrapped by a breakers do they HAVE to let DVLA know. Seems there an awful lot of untaxed cars going by their records. They can't ALL be in barns/garages.

unfortunately a lot of vehicles get scrapped whilst under sorn so the reg may exist but car doesnt.
before sorn was around if you didnt tax a vehicle and took it off the road it automatically became sorned when the sorn came out or ceased to exist on DVLA records.
i have a n old moterbike that hasnt been taxed since 1989 and has a permenant sorn on it until i tax it.
if i was to scrap it privately the bike would cease to exist even if the reg still exists.
you are supposed to notify DVLA of scrapping a vehicle but they changed it on the log books a while back so you have to get a certificate of destruction or something to officially scrap the vehicle at a dismantlers. this was the primary reason why private scrapping happened yet they are still permanently sorned.
makes it a nightmare if your searching for the vehicle.

I'd see how far you can get with this process:

https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla

There's a list of reasons to choose from, the fear of it being abandoned is potentially your best shot as there's no criminal angle.

Kind of good you can't just get people's details free and easy, it's at least behind an extra form. If the web form doesn't get you far enough perhaps there are humans at the dvla that will understand a legitimacy to the query.

Good luck in any case.

Humans at the DVLA? No chance ... ! It's all by the book, no ifs or buts ... might as well be one 'uge supercomputer doing it all in South Wales (or Mumbai for that matter)

Not posting this just to be contrary but in all my dealings with the DVLA (inc importing 3 cars from Japan and one from the states) I've found them to be helpful and timely.

I've had no problem with the DVLA either, but don't expect them to shift ONE INCH from what the book says. Not a criticism, that's just the way it is. No matter that your dad owned this car for 30 years and you want to see who owns it now etc - fat chance from my experience.
