L20A Engine For Sale

I have an L20A engine for sale which was removed from my 1975 Fairlady Z to swap it for a rebuilt L26.

It has an E30 block and E30 head. Both are in good condition (no snapped studs) and the engine ran sweet before I removed it back in March. The records I had with the car when I bought it 3 years ago suggests it now has around 45k miles on it after my use but can't guarantee. No knocks or rattles & had good oil pressure.

There are no ancillaries with it i.e. manifolds, carbs, distributor, oil pressure sender, water pump although I do have an alternator & fan.

I would be looking for around £100 but open to reasonable offers. Buyer would need to collect from Bristol & have something to lift it into their transport. Please PM me if interested. Will place on e-bay after a week.

I would rather sell as a complete unit. I haven't got the time to separate them and wouldn't want to damage anything by doing so.

If I don't sell as a complete unit, I will consider breaking down into component parts and you can have first refusal on the Head.

Seems cheap to be honest, especially as you were using it without issue. It's not as if it's been found in the corner of a barn.

My wife has said the same thing. I was of the opinion that no-one wanted the 2.0 litre engine as the threads I have seen have all been about swapping them out for higher cc units cos they were underpowered - much the same as I have done. I need the space in the garage quickly & thought that it wouldn't sell if it was more.

Anyway, done now & hopefully it will go to a good home with someone in the ZClub. I just hope I don't see it on e-bay for 3 times the value straight after I have sold it.

Name and shame if it does !

I'd have paid more but couldn't organise the transport quick enough.

It is/was cheap.!! The head alone is worth £100. Rest of it is probably of historical interest only. IMHO
The E30 head is a great starting point for a modified engine.
It has a nice "kidney "shaped chamber with a good squish area.
It does need extensive work to the ports and bigger valves etc
Its similar to the E31 head.
Check out the pic of an E30 head I have.
Big Sam had an engine with a modified E30 head at one stage.

Thats why I was asking about the head, I believe it takes even more work/cost than an e31 though, especially on the ports.

Hope it goes to a good home.

It requires lots of work for sure but a lot of it is DIY level so not expensive.
Some thinking "outside the box" will help rather than following the traditional "always done it this way" method so beloved to the old school tradition brigade..
Anyway... I digress.
Someone should buy this stuff ....even if its just for the head..
I will start my own "for sale" thread in due course.
