Subscribed, I'm doing a 3UZ swap into a 280ZX. Can I ask what gearbox/diff you was going with? I'm thinking 350Z 6 speed box but looking into other options.

Hi mate, just seen your thread.

My build is going to be pretty tane as I already have my fast zed. This will be more a laid back cruiser with some getup and go if I need it. So in keeping with this and because I'm on a budget, it will run the auto box. I may change in the future though and the 350 box looks a good choice. There are other options from BMW. With regard to diff's, I'm hopeing the r200 with an LSD will hold up for a little while. I still need to do the maths with regard to ratio's though but I'll probably start with a 3.7 and see how it goes.

Although the ZF BMW box are a cheaper option I would prefer to keep it Japanese also you don't need to worry about the speedo trigger. I might be able to get hold of a sump for you.

My R200 is holding up well with 490lb/ft, but I wouldn't fancy putting that through stock driveshafts.

With the all suspension at the powder coaters and all the hardware at the plates, I found time to push the shell out of the workshop for a good jetwash underneath. Really please with how it came out and the abundance of original blue paint has answered the question on colour. I've been going round and round in circle trying to make my mind up whether to repaint this one or leave it ratty. After speaking to a sprayer today the decision was made and the car is booked in to by repainted in Nissan Bayside blue in March. As I am only having the outside done I can get on and finish the rest of the car before then.

If anyone 'not in the know' looked at your car they would think it was a wreck bodywise. However it is a fantastic body and has great potential.

Truly amazing condition for an old Datsun.

Not touched this one lately as I'm waiting on parts.

Picked up a load of parts from the powdercoaters today but I still can't get the car back together as the hardware is still with the platers.

Sump kit arrived today. Ya. It's the full rear sump from a soarer which was my preferred choice over a custom made one. The sump is considered a big structural part of the engine so I want to retain the parts specifically designed for it.

I can now get on with test fitting the engine properly and make some mounts.

Managed to find a few hours this evening to carry on with the car. Mad the engine and gearbox mounts and fitted them in the final position.
