What are you using for sound deadening?
Hi Ian,

Thanks, currently I have just stuck with all the original sound deadening. If this doesn't suffice I'll add some extra in at a later date.

Dan

Its painted over after the factory install anyway. Why pull it all off to put non factory back down?

Had a productive weekend.

Engine and box in, cut the old transmission mount and welded it up to fit the s14a box.

Got the dash in finally last week and converted my tach using a modern circtui board so hoping it works OK.

A little stuck now as I need an exhaust manifold to get it started in the next couple weeks but Sean's ZStory exhausts aren't in stock till end of Jan' 18. Might just wait and have a few weeks off it (with Christmas and house moving its probably not a bad idea)... or I use the stock exhaust or manifolds from my old 240Z (which need some work).

Anyway some pictures:

They are worth a MINT now - the 67/68s more than others (in whatever kind of nick) - prices have gone M A D ...

A guy was asking on the Mustang forum about one saying he had a budget of 28k and people were more or less incredulous he expected to get anything for that figure ... !

Dads is a 67 fastback, 289 with auto box - no S-code or anything special but its in stunning condition really. My uncle and his lad mainly restore and rebuild mustangs now in the workshop that my dad rents to them. Currently have one replica Shelby GT500 of his own that's nearly complete and another 67 fastback out the back for restoration.

Personally I think the only thing they have going for them is the look, they drive terrible and I've never been a fan of Ford engines.

They're okay if they're set up right. But the parts are old now and they wear, like anything. Then things get sloppy. They're heavy cars and they have to have PAS on them - or the electric one they do now - mine didn't and suffered for it. A friend has just put TAKEN OFF the R&P steering he put on his and gone back to the original Pitman arm etc but has the electric assist on it and it is fantastic. Unlike the original F O R D power assist back in the day which was FAR too much assistance.

I drove a K-code 66 fastback a few years back (on not great roads) and it was fantastic. Steering was marvellous - rebuilt, with the K-code quick ratio 'box and it was like a new car ... the guy had spent a LONG time getting it right, mind.

My floors rusted through because moisture (early in it's life I think) got under that bitumen stuff, sat there and eventually put holes in the floors.

Well they appear solid - ifs lasted 45 years with the sound deadening on and not rusted through yet - and if it does they'll get replaced within its lifetime - whats to say your new sound deadening wont do the same again. My drain holes were rust free and still had lovely fresh paint on, if these had gone rusty I would have pulled the lot up.

Johny, theyre 16x8's with 205/50/16's on.

Fitted one of Seans exhausts - excellent bit of kit!
