Sorry, yes 2 cars on 1 truck for $600. I would think it made no major difference to them that it was 2 or 1? I'll give you a bell on the next, thanks, as the road transport makes a big difference and the shippers prices appear to have gone up.

Started on this one last Sunday as I need to make some room for an immanent arrival.

Finished striping the underside of the car and also removed the dash as I'm going to do a RHD conversion while its apart. I had to cut out and replace a large section of the floor rail but that's the only rot I've found on the car so far. Cleaned the entire underside with thinners and then gave it all a coat of Gravitex stone chip to seal it followed by a coat of paint. This is the new colour the car will be. Its a Vauxhall colour. Not sure of the name but you see it quite a lot on the new corsa's.

Found a spare couple of hours this afternoon so decided to attack the engine bay. fitst things to go were the extra brackets the 280z has. Followed quickly by all the cable support clips then the brake line mounts. As I'm converting to RHD the battery tray was next which then gave me access to a bit dent which I proceeded to straighten out. After a quick chat to Mike, who visited the workshop at just the right time, I came to the conclusion the loom was far too complicated for this build so that went next. With the engine bay looking a whole lot cleaner I set about removing the LHD peddle plate. Got 3/4 of the way there but found I couldn't get access to the last few spot welds so I'll continue tomorrow with my right angle drill.

I'm happy with the progress and cant wait to start fitting the RHD peddle panel tomorrow.

PS. also picked up another load of replated hardware.

I should of said affectionately called...

Anyway, back to the project. Made some progress when I finally got my welder to work properly. Its been temperamental for a long while and was really annoying me today. I had to redo several **** welds but its fixed now. Finished removing the peddle plate, fitted the new one and welded up all the old hole I wont be using.

I had forgotten about the bonnet pull so thanks for the heads up. Wiring will be hidden and I'll probably drill the hole latter.

Dave - yes the battery tray is available for free if you want it.

The UK peddle box and master cylinder are now fitted along with the steering column.

Today I swapped the sump on the 3UZ engine for one with a rear pan then tried the engine and box back in the car. Also fitted the front cross member, rack and linkage to check it all fits. Then spent several hours playing with the position of the engine/box to get the optimum location. It is very tight in the engine bay but it all fits. I've pushed it a little further forward than I needed to but it gives me better clearance at the back of the engine. No1 cylinder is still entirely behind the front wheels which should be good for handling. Planned on how to do the mounts so need to pick up some metal tomorrow and get it all fitted.

How have you measured where the new steering column plate fits? Or is it obvious when fitting it up?

Looks like I'm going to be attempting a RHD conversion soon so I'll be following this thread. Need to teach myself to weld first.

Its pretty obvious. It is tight into the corner with the same gap to the horizontal rip at the top as the other side.

I have just noticed that I started another thread in the hybrid section titled 3UZ so I will be continuing on that thread.
