Yep, same person. The post count is just a coincidence. There are two accounts, the Dave_Brown one using a mobile or tablet device. I think people find it easier to post pictures using the Tapatalk app.

Arches cutting.

This is going to seem so sexist but I hope I can get my point across.

Scenario:

You find a lovely pure girl in the outback with a beautiful pair of perfectly formed, pert but modestly sized breasts. What a find!

You decided (because you become her owner and master) that she needs big, bulbous boobs that every sex pervert wants to display on Facebook as their girlfriend. She has the op. at your expense and what a sexy looker!

A few years down the line you mature, her boobs don't mean as much to you and there are complications. You and her just wish you had left things as they were.

I'm not a pervert but want to make folks think before they perform an irreversible and unnecessary operation for egotistical reasons.

Why don't we promote the mantra

It's your car
It's your money
You are old enough to own a Z so by default also old enough to make your own decisions

Let each person decide what they choose to do with their cars.
I bet most owners don't run factory engines, carbs, brakes, suspension.

Maybe those pursuing wider look aren't boob men?

There is also a strong possibility using your example as you mature you live in regret that you wish you had the op done decades ago on your girl, now it's too late and you find oggling at other peoples possessions! .

Datsfun, that's fine - yes it's your car do what you want all I'm trying to get across is that these are classic cars that are registered as historic vehicles and as such are appreciated by the government as worth preserving.

Consider before cutting.

Rob would you say the same to the guys who are dropping all sorts of engines into these cars from Nissan units right all the way to monster V8's? Just curious as same logic of the cars being classified as historic \ classic by govt must apply?

Rob. Historic classification from the Government means nothing

After all an Austin Maxi is also a "Historic"

Why all this big fuss about Historic Tac Clasification? Are any of us really bothered? When I bought my 240z it was not classed as historic but that really didnt bother me at all. If it vlooses its historic status I'm also not bothered. I love the cars because of the cars they are, not just because I can save a little money each year. Surely none of us are that tight that we only buy these car because we can save on road tax.

Yeah, Dave B, Dave Brown is the same, created and account on my laptop, but Tapatalk on my phone seems to have a different profile for me it uses?
Deffo going to drill the old skin off the roof, been told the frp roof skin is made for that purpose.
I love the flared arches/wide rims look, and my rear arches are slightly scabby anyway so would need replacing if I wasn't cutting them out. Nothing wrong with artificial lady curves either lol 😁

An observation I've made is a fair few people in the z scene seem to be dead against cutting out the arches, and frown upon people fitting flares and wide wheels. Whereas in the mk1/mk2 escort scene, a large percentage of builds these days have gp4/Tarmac arches and inner tubs fitted and no one bats an eyelid

I think it's got something to do with the fact the mk1/mk2 escort took on arches rallying, whereas the Z's didn't.

Personally I think arches look cool. Do what you want though, who gives a **** what other people think.

I know I was anti-overfenders above with respect to Phil's car, but that's my opinion related to that specific car.

But generally, I'm pro overfender. They are period correct for the S30 and were factory items or options on certain (JDM) vehicles. They have been used extensively in Japan for decades, it's just internationally we are catching up to the JDM influence - and people with a more purist classic car outlook are "uncomfortable" with them.

I fully expect my next project to have them fitted (although that depends on the base car's shell as I might chicken out depending on arch quality of whatever I acquire!).
