I used the original ECU, kept the ews(matched key chip/ecu/ews box). It runs fine without the diff sensor signal however I did connect it to the ecu in the end just so I didn't have any fault codes showing at all.

Ok Franky you have talked me into it Im going to play with the z for the 1st 6 months or so of next year while im sussing out the m3 conversion () what do you all think of my plan which is, set the engine and box on a test stand and transfer the ecu, loom ignition swich and the ews ( anti theft key reader system) i have heard that you can have the ecu flashed so that it is not looking for inputs from unwanted sensors

Terry, think long and hard before you rip apart your lovely and finished L6 car.

If you have the resources why not build a second car, get it out of your system and then decide which to keep.

An M3 hybrid is an interesting build but you are spoiling a great car to do it.

When you here people talking about changing the running gear underneath I don't think this is what they mean. You would be better off removing it from the doner car first.

Are you planning on using the original ecu or decided against it?

99.9 % aftermarket, i understand factory ecu's have millions spent on development but this wont be a shopping car looking for every possibility in every codition, let the fun begin (well when this poxy cold damp weather clears up)

Will you be de-vanosing too? With deep pockets you can get 135bhp/ltr out of these
