Newbie First Timer, All Fluids Change.

Hi Guys,

I'm about to change the fluids in the 260. Being the first time Iíve changed the fluids, Iím wondering if peeps could cast an eye over the selection of fluids please?

Millers Classic Sport 20w-50 Pistoneeze Semi Synthetic.

I was originally looking at Millers Classic Sport 20w-50 Pistoneeze Semi Synthetic, having read that members are using it and happy with it . However, having called Opie Oils, Fuchs Titan Race Pro R 20W-50 Ester Fully Synthetic was suggested as an alternative (based on little use, but when used driven hard. ) and wondered what peeps think. A little over kill for my application or a good choice?

Iíve also seen on receipts in the history file that 10w/40 has been used over the past few years. Is it best to stick with the 10w/40 or go 20w/50?

Stick to 20-50.

You may have difficulty undoing the diff filler (I have) so don't drain it before checking - same with gearbox (although RIDDLER had the gbox overhauled so the filler would have been undone).

10-40w is what it has in the logbook, My independent oil expert now tells me Millers oils are not what they were!
He said Fuchs/silolene is better, plenty of zinc in the racing oils, been using 10w-50w fuchs race oil last 3 years no problems.
He did add that the Millers Race oils were ok as well.

Good luck with the fluid change. Believe I had the diff oil changed once during my ownership. As Rob says, gearbox oil done at the time the box was rebuilt (you will have the receipt). As you have discovered, Mark Warburton who serviced my car and is very knowledgeable always insisted on 10w 40 but what type he used I don't know. Left it to him.
