Blimey, that was some bad driving! For such a sudden turn in, I can only imaging he was heading for the pits and failed to use his mirrors or even aware of what's going on around him.
Luck escape too. His helmet seemed to be scraping on the ground for a bit!

There is a major safety problem with that car!
Other drivers don't see it at the side of them because it is unique and narrow. I suspect it may get banned from races in future. I know it's not the Nissan driver's fault (same as at Le Mans) but I'd feel mighty vulnerable in it.

Motorsport is a non contact sport, but when there are collisions involving wheel to wheel there is a chance one car will flip. Should single seater racing be banned?
There's even a clip of a Porsche race where two 911's come together wheel to wheel and one flips. If there's an argument, maybe it should be races involving mixed classes of such big speed differences?

Agreed that the design of the delta wing seems to have some stabilty issues. I admire nissan for pushing the envelope so to speak but can see this getting shelved pretty soon.
That does not excuse the poor driving of the porsche, just so bad. Hope he got a race ban as a penalty. Quote:

In the dry the car is quite nimble but when it rains or there is standing water there is nowhere for the water from the front wheels to go apart from under the car or onto the rear wheels
