Oops!

the result of having 8000+rpm on in 2nd gear and selecting 1st instead of 3rd gear. Strange thing is they don't seem to finally give up and break till 3 or 4 races after the event!bmw 004.jpg

In India or Cuba they'd have that sorted with a bit of welding, no problem. Call yourself an engineer?

Hope you can source the bits easily. Anything special about the crank apart from balancing and the fact that it's in two pieces?

Hi Tel
no other damage, felt the vibration on the clutch pedal and knew straight away what it was, was still driving OK with good oil pressure as no feed through the back web.i have now modified the gear shift on my s14 box to make the detent very strong across the gate from 4th to 5th and 1st to 5th (only use 5th at Spa or Snetterton) so can go harder across the gate from 2nd to 3rd without worrying about getting 5th if that makes sense?
Rob tried the double sided tape and gaffer tape but neither would hold it. was just a std crank balanced etc. if i hadn't had some new shells in stock i could probably re-used the ones in there.just have to run it in for a lap 28th at Croft. really annoying as i did it in qualifying and only did 5 laps and set my best time and had stuck it on 3rd on the grid. oh well s**t happens

Don't understand the 1st to 5th bit. Glad someone else has bad habits, mine was 3rd to Reverse (instead of 4th)

Remember doing the same thing at a hillclimb years ago, managed to get 1st rather than 3rd. Broke the gearbox and bent quite a few valves. Was the first event after just having the box rebuilt too. Such is life
