Went for a drive with the missus tonight, and stopped at a brilliant pub in Mobberley, Cheshire called the Bull's Head. Superb cask ales - what more could you want?
Anyway, I noticed an unusual number of Porsches littered around outside.
When I went in, a guy I have never met walked up to me and said: "Let me just tell you, you have got the finest car on the car park there - it doesn't get better than that." What a welcome!
It turns out there is a Porsche club meets there - the 3P club (stands for Pub, Porsche and Pint Club apparently), but the landlord decided to set up a rival car club for other marques called the Goodfellas Club - that excludes Porsches!
He told me all I had to do was take a picture of my 260Z outside the pub, email it to him and I would get a free mug and membership of the club - so I did it there and then from my phone (see attached picture).
If anyone is passing there, why not do the same? Everyone was very friendly, and the beer (and food) there is mega.
And here's a weblink to the Goodfellas club site:
For the 2nd time the teams at MissBanzai and JAE are collaborating to bring you the JAE Tunnel Run 2012

This year we will be starting from Wicksteed Park on the evening of Friday 7[SUP]th[/SUP] September.
The MissBanzai team will be waiting to collect your entrance fee at the field closest to the entrance at 10pm.
Entrance fee is £10 per car - £8 of this fee will be given to Macmillan cancer care, this is all helping to go towards money being raised all weekend at JAE.
£2 is to cover admin and printing costs.

At approx 11pm when all the maps are handed out, we will be off to see the sights and tunnels of London.
These will include The London Eye, Tower of London, Tower bridge and Big Ben… we will be doing some epic tunnels which include The Kingsway tunnel and the favourite West Ferry underpass to name but a few.

So if you have heard of our infamous tunnel runs, but have never done one or you are a hard core tunnel runner and know what these are all about, get yourself, and your friends involved to help us raise as much money as possible for this very worthy charity.

There will be a prize for Spirit of the Tunnel Run on the night, which will go to the car/team who have embraced tunnel running to the max!

Details
Starting point: Entrance field at Wicksteed Park
Gates open: 9pm
Price: £10 per car – Route map will be handed out on entry
Gates close for entry: 10:30pm
Cars leave for London: Approx 11pm

The tunnel run will end at South Mimms services, where we can have some breakfast and then convoy back to JAE.

Just back from the Classic Laon Tour in my 260Z.

This was a superb event where 3 Zs attended; my 260, Nick (ZSled) in his 240Z and Malcolm_Paul also in his 240Z.

The first days event on Saturday was a Tulip Rally ending Vervins for lunch and what turned out to be a Classic Car show in the centre of the town. 600 cars attended the event, ranging from a pre-war Bugatti and Mercedes SSK to Cobras, Willys Jeeps, TRs, MGs, E-types, specials, Rolls Royces, and our Zs, right to some up to date Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

The afternoon was another Tulip Rally back to Parc Foch in Laon, to the Concourse and a champagne reception.

Sunday was awesome, with sunny weather (note to self, take hat next time - burnt head!) and the streets to Laon closed to regular traffic, the Classic procession started at 2 pm.*

This involved Classic starting from 2 points in the town, the top square by the Town Hall and the Train Station. Driving in procession to closed cobble streets was terrific fun, the locals and spectators waving and cheering (with the odd air horn) as cars went by, the 'circuit' must have been around 6 miles long weaving its way around the town.*

As the procession dwained at around 4 pm, there was the opportunity to 'open the throttle' around the hair pin hill climb to the *top of the town and the hilltop castle and ramparts. My standard Z went really well, but I did have a 'Bumble Bee' Dodge Charger growling behind me all the way up, not able to get past on the narrow streets. Sunday closed with another champagne reception hosted by the Town Mayor, Automobile Club President and the Tour Organiser.

Monday was a leisurely drive back to Calais nursing a champagne induced sore head.

It's the first time I have done this sort of tour, and with Laon only being 2 1/2 hours south of Calais, I *thoroughly recommend it. Whether you drive standard, modified, classic or interesting vehicles, it was great fun and a good lads weekend away.

I'm booking for next year, would be great to get a small Z convoy going like the MG and TR people had.

Hiya,

Anyone know the right size/shape? M3? M4?

Similarly, our gearstick gaitor was non-existent when the car arrived. I assue there's some clips of sorts to hold the gaitor to the transmission tunnel console. Any ideas?

If someone has the above, then I'm interested. If not, recommendations for alternatives are most welcome!!

The 1971 FairladyZ-L has had an intermittent problem with the starter circuit that just became non-operative.
It had occasionally giving out one "click" noise from under the dashboard somewhere, then the next time I turned the key to start the starter would work.
Yesterday all I get is the one "click" when I turn the key to start. Replaced the switch on the end of the ignition switch, replaced the starter, checked the battery.
When I use a jumper from the battery positive post to the b/y wire on the starter solenoid the car starts and runs with the ignition switch "on".
When I try the key to the start position, I get the click but no current in the b/y wire at the starter.
The wiring diagram shows an isolation switch for automatic transmission only; we have a manual five-speed. It's always started with the transmission in gear or natural, so probably no isolation switch for a manual trans?
No idea what is making the single "click" noise when I turn the key to start.
Is there a relay in the switch-to-starter that isn't shown in the wiring diagrams?
Any advice would be great!
Thank you.

Thanks for a fantastic turnout today - the weather really helps. We made up our eight car field for the Eliminator with the help of Invitational member for the day, Naresh Bhatti with his Datsun Violet SR20DET. This gave the Z Club Seven (commentator John Price's pun...) something to think about as Naresh's car is capable of low thirteen second quarters!
A shame that some of the Z boys couldn't get out of bed early enough to be there to sign on. Another word of warning for next month at the same venue - if you arrive after 9-00 am you stand a high risk of not getting signed on!

Although we didn't use reaction times for points at this meeting, I did record them during qualifying. Congratulations go to newbie Dean Halsey for the best reaction time of the day at 0.251 seconds!

Huge thanks for Tony Huck, organiser, for a great day which ran really smoothly. Tony should be good at this - today marked the twentieth anniversary of him running events at North Weald!
Also to John Price, commentator, who let me into his inner sanctum to provide additional commentary on proceeding plus a little inside information...
Also, thanks to the organisers for providing a trophy for our winner!
