240Z on ebay

1972 K DATSUN 240Z 2.4RED SPARES OR REPAIR RUNNER on eBay (end time 17-Feb-10 13:49:08 GMT)

This appeared yesterday, I asked the chap what he was after for it and was told might take any offer over three grand, its only half an hour or so from my work but I think I will just watch it through with interest to see what it goes for, bit too much work for me I reckon....

Seen worse, may make a good resoration project at £2-2.5k but over £3k is a bit high.

I always wonder why people are selling project cars - usually because the honeymoon period is over and they have realised the time and money needed. I reckon this would be a £10k car to get it on the road (plus all the work). And I doubt if it would fetch £10k when finished so as usual that's the dilema.

But it needs saving, looks too good to scrap.

It's not always about the money but about the pleasure completing such a project provides.

A lot of cars end up costing £10k if they are done right.

Well nobody will be able to answer that until they go and look at all three cars.
and as that wont be happening whatever else is added on to this thread will be idle speculation and uninformed trivia.........
and we have had plenty of that already about some of the cars
So carry on without me

Ill be watching with interest!

£13k+ for a project ?

Go for the '72 K reg as it's cheapest and likely (I said likely) to be in better condition than a rallye car (accident damage).

But I'd still go elsewhere for a project.............;-) at the price !

I'd start with the rally car - yes I know it's trivia and speculation Pete. A road rally owner is likely to be a genuine owner with a practical approach to ownership, repairs and values. I know I've been one

I beg to differ - rallyes = accident damage. Most Zs of value are those in standard form so paying for all the 'extra' bits is money 'wasted' !

I'd start with a car that's been dry stored all it's life, and only comes out in the dry, if you can still find one that is.

Have you missed the weather forecast for the east coast of America? The only cars that you can put in the category you seem to put all American cars are the ones from Arizona... because its kind of a desert!!! Plus even if you get one from that particular location there is no guarantee it spent all its life there.

In fact I would rather get one from Australia at least it would be right hand drive.

Mike

My 240z came from Arizona the only problem with the car was all the rubbers had perished away and the original dash had cracked in half.
