Nissan to start building steer-by-wire cars
Why Nissan, why...
Nissan Will Put Drive-By-Wire in 2013 Cars - Popular Mechanics Technology seems to be moving on at an ever quicker rate, what with electric hybrids and now steer-by-wire it looks like cars will be changing drastically over the next few years. It seems all the fun is being taken out of motoring; another good reason to prefer classic cars over newer motors. |

Interesting that you think that Johny,
A lot of modern sports cars still come without too many driver aids. Infact - my MK4 R32 Golf is probably one of the most raw cars I've ever driven and its extremely involving. But it can also be VERY easy to drive and easy to drive very fast. The MK5 seemed to take a huge step back though and was a bit of a bore. I'll be very happy if I enjoy driving my Z as much as I do my .:R when its finished. |

I guess my point of view is based on the limited new cars I've been in which were not "sporty". It may be just how I see them rather than how they actually are to the owners. I here the R32 is an awsome machine and I guess head and sholders above the typical modern car.

Could this be the first stage of getting a car to drive itself i.e. accurate automatic control of the steering?
My Dad reckons there is a lot about that in the motoring press (well Auto Express anyway ).Just imagine the complications and an MoT test for that!

Well I've seen or heard nothing yet, and normally I would get a bit of an earlier look in to things. I wouldn't be against it if I'm 100% honest. Could have a slee while going places...
