Lost microsoft word

After recent computer problems it seems I have lost the use of microsoft word and probably associated programmes such as office and stuff. It looks like my old word should have expired in 2004 but its kept running until now and i now have to pay to get back into word.

Any suggestions other than pay up?

Some relatively recent Office "updates" corrupt the short cut (on Excel at least for me). As a last resort it may be worth deleting the short cut and reinstating it again...?

Does Exel still work? in which case as Mike says it could be just a case of the shortcut. Unless the Excel shortcut is also fubarred. I assume you don't have the disks in which case you cannot install it again. Also do you have a copy of the license key. If not then there are programs out there that can retrieve the license key for you ... but thats no use unless you have the disks to re-install office again.

For those who don't know, one of Microsofts new updates included a bit of software which checks to see if your version of office is genuine. So for every one who has auto update on their pc, it will install the checker.

... and then stop it working as I found out if your license key is invalid. I had a copy of office XP and the license was a corporate license. Obviously the corporation went bust and Microsoft then cancelled the validity ... therefore my Office stopped

Buy a genuine version. From £39 inc vat for the standard edition or £51 for the enterprize version of 0ffice 2007.

Go to Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Software UK at Software4Students.co.uk

You have to be in some form of education or know someone who is though. You can install and activate it on 2 PC's.

Before you do anything, to make sure it isnt just the short cut that has been deleted or altered go to "start", then run, type excel.exe or winword.exe in the text box and click "Ok" if excel or word is still on your system (and keyed into the registry correctly) and the paths are still ok it should fire up excel/word
