Question Autobox Noise

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction please? Under load, like accelerating up a hill the box kicks down from 3rd to second smoothly, but when it tries to change back up to 3rd at about 5000 revs I sometimes get a screech almost like the sound of a clutch bearing (if it had a clutch). Note that this is only under load and hard acceleration and boost at about 6-7 psi.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Exclamation

Hi Andy ! To be honest it sounds like a worn clutch mate. Yeah,,I know it's an auto box, but they have a number (depending on the make) of clutch bands and hydraulic servos on the planetary gearset. When they become worn they can get very noisy. On the upside if trans oil pressure is low or the fluid is burnt, change it out with trans filter asap,,and see if things improve :-) This most times can cure the problem
