Disconnecting power to clock?
The 1971 FairladyZ has a "rally clock" driven by an oscillator, which drains the battery in a week when it's sitting in the garage.
I'd like to disconnect the power to the oscillator. Is there a quick and easy way to do it without getting into the fuse block? Thanks! |

I've got one of these on my 240Z and it works well:

Or alternatively, I use a ctek trickle charger which keeps the battery conditioned, costs a bit more than Rob's suggestion but my battery is never flat

I've one of these under the hood, but I'd like to avoid opening the hood all the time.

Kerrigan,
In the passenger footwell, halfway up the firewall and just next to the cowl drain tube, you should find the oscillator unit. It'll be a dull gold-passivated zinc colour, and it will have an electrical connector coming out of the square tube part of it. Just pop the connector out and the power drain will stop. You can pop it in again when you want the clock to run. Here's a schematic that might help you: Last edited by STEVE BURNS; 15-10-2012 at 09:49 AM..
