Hose Spaghetti

Hi Everyone,

I am working my way round the hoses on my 260z and replacing them all.

There is a breather that comes out of the rocker cover, splits in two and goes into each carb.

As you can see from the picture it is a mess of bodged connections etc which as well a looking ugly fouls on the throttle linkage when you put your foot down.

My question is, how did Datsun have it setup originally and does anyone have the parts?

Are there any other options? Pros? Cons?

Cheers for your help

Surely that would have gone to the air filter box?

All three pipes would have been connected to the backplate of the original Air Filter as Rob has suggested.

All three are breathers but at the moment the two float bowl breathers are connected to the rocker box and I would think it might actually cause problems pressurising the float bowls.

The rocker box breather can be taken care of fairly easily by putting a small pancake filter on it. The two tubes for the carbs, on my car, I have just left in place but not connected to anything.

Cheers for your quick replies guys, I wondered why there were extra points on the air box. I will get some tubing and put it back as it should be

I can see the issue you have here ..

A: The green pipe goes into a diffo car, ie not a 260z so it will never run right

B: Not so much the issue - but the tissue. What are you doing to that poor frog

And the carbs are not OEM S30....Jag ones...

As it has bodged connections, where does the braided hose in the middle go.....?

I thought they were the standard carbs?

Can you be a bit more specific in case I need to get parts for them?

Are they better than OEM ones?

If they are from a Jag they'll be genuine SU carbs, there should be part numbers all over them (AUD XXX..). type some of them into google and you should be able to figure out exactly which carbs they are.

No, these are not standard carbs. You are best sticking with these as the standard carbs, are, shall we say, un-favourable in being used (the boat anchor brigade)
