Hi mate,

OK, well, the fitment of a performance air-filter is pretty problem free, albeit that the standard air-box is a bit of a bugger to get out! There's a number of replacements available, but I think the Apexi Power FC is generally the favourite.

As for exhaust, there's a great deal of choice here, and all of them offer differing levels of performance gain, noise and expense! All the big tuning companies offer aftermarket exhausts, but beware that they're not all stainless. A lot of Z32 owners have used Powerflow to fabricate exhausts to their own design, but I have read mixed reports over the quality of their steel. Also, you need to decide whether you want to retain 4 outlets (in which case Mongoose is a popular one), 2 or just 1 big mutha! ;)

I've currently got a HKS, which supposedly offers good performance gains, but isn't that loud, but does look nice! Down side was the ticket price at around 700 quid all in!

You could do worse than to look under the tech section of Andy P's excellent Z32 technical site there's a section on upgrades that talks about exhausts and filters in particular.

I guess the final choice is to de-cat or not. I have and I think the spool up on the turbos is definitely quicker. It can be that if your turbo seals are on the way out, though, that the decreased back pressure of cat removal means they'll wear out quicker :(. Your choice.

As for the ECU consequences of improved breathing, it's recommended that you reset the ECU after changes like this (at least for the induction), and let it re-learn the new settings. No need to increase fuelling though, unless you want to up the boost.
