z31 turbo manual help needed!

I have just brought an 88 Z31 manual turbo and love it! The speedo was not working so after having it checked out at a garage, decided to seek a new speedo cluster (thank you Quagmire). However, there is still no life from the speedo needle (all other dials are fine) and despite a speed signal registering at the head and the box, there is no life at all.....
Starting to think it may be an electrical prob as there are some oddities with the electrics - the interior blower fan can be turned on and off regardless of key being in the ignition, now the click has just dissapeared......

Can anyone recommend a Z31 fan or good electrician in Kent or Essex that I may be able to take her to?

She runs beautifully apart from not knowing how fast I'm going........

 a drive to a pub? Sounds like plan.......
I want to start learning about repairs etc, which is why I brought this beastie, but think I may be out of my depth as a complete beginner!!!!
I have the Haynes manual which has the wiring diagrams in it, and gave this to my local garage guy - he is stumped but confeses he knows little about electrics...
Monday or Tuesday would be fine for a drive (hopefully monday as now the bloody wipers have packed up :( )

Welcome anytime Steve, and I can show you round the electrics on the car . The live circuits on key off position are puzzling though,,,makes me wonder if the ignition switch has been replaced ?? Pub # 01189 780918 ask for Reid , someone will know where I am ,,(probably wrestling with a cask of bitter in the cellar) ! :D:eek:

Don't know if this helps mate - may not be related to teh speedo but perhaps helps with the blower being live without ignition.
When I replaced the stereo on mine a few weeks ago the blower started even without ignition and I suddenly got the 'lights left on' chime for the first time in my 4 year ownership.
I didn't have much time as it was getting dark but I just removed the permanent live from the stereo and it sorted the problem with blower. Obviously it meant that the stereo didn't have any memory to store radio stations etc, I meant to revisit but ended up with a new car so the stereo was shifted over. I think if the live and permanent live were switched it may fix the problem, got a feeling they were mixed up despite the colours matching.
