Z31 NA - Running Rich...and Rough!

Hi, my Z31 is 'missing', idle is erratic, using loads of fuel - particularly bad when hot. I know there are various sensors etc to check, but what's the most common problem, or the best order to check things in? Thanks in advance, Pete

Hi,
If it was a Z32 I would say clean the connector to the engine coolant temp sensor and reset the ecu....Not sure if the same applies to the Z31 though, as I never had any problems with mine in that respect!

Run the ECU diagnostic - see details under "Articles" above.
Temp. sensor is a likely culprit as is FUBAR'd fuel pressure regulator. Before you replace the latter, make sure it is still receiving a manifold vacuum signal - if not check vac lines and the control solenoid down by the coil.

I ran the ecu diag. I got 23 = Idle Sensor. Is it normal for the idle sensor to go?? Or would their be something else affecting the idle sensor that the ecu is not picking up on?
