But I like the shells shape, it's dash and it's long nose

So I'll make mine me own :D
Thats fine thats your choice, but hey a new visitor to here posts up saying he is in the process of buying a car that dosn't appeal to you and instead of advising him to make sure it is not a rust bucket and would need an arm or a leg spent on doing it up your advise is not to buy it and stick with his capri because you do not like the style of the 280ZX and then on the next post samuri-240 joins in saying forget it if it is a 2+2

This guy has bought the car and it comes across as a really nice way of making a potential new member welcome here:unsure:

Ye Steve I agree, I'm not too fussed tbh, but someone not as strong minded will defo have been put off!

Jez you may have bid on the same one.. it's the red targa which if I'm not mistaken has an MSA kit, I actually love it lol usually the morning after you don't feel as good, but I looked out the window and smiled :)

Steve I think you are right.
I went to zfest this year for the first time and really enjoyed looking at all the z'ds.
The 240 is my fave, but without all the other models zfest would have been a few 240/260's stuck in the middle of a rather large field!.
JEZ I think you should subscribe again as I think more people than not like the idea of a 'Z club' rather than a 240/260 club.
Cheers

There has been a surge of 280ZX interest in the last year or so with several cars currently undergoing restoration and other well-known models resurfacing after long hibernation.
Whilst always having a preference for the coupe (in all Z model ranges) I find that the 2+2s are giving their owners immense pleasure and are just as worth the attention of their sportier counterparts.
Let us not forget that this Club came into existence via the enthusiasm of a 260Z 2+2 owner!

Just because someone prefers the 240z to the 280zx does not mean its Z snobbery. We should all be allowed to choose which model we prefer and even say it on a forum without fear of retribution.

Not saying you shouldn't be able to say which model you prefer

What I am saying is it is a bit off to say to a prospective new Z owner don't bother buying that as your better sticking to the car you already have because I don't like the particular model the prospective new Z owner is in the process of buying
