www.zclub.net going live!

This is the start of www.zclub.net. At present only the forums are fully operational, I require some input as to what people would like to see as the categories and the types of forums. If you have some ideas please mail them to mwalton@35sigs.com.

There will soon be a facility to load your photographs up to the site and have them approved for display in the gallery - so dig out some of those pictures.

Could members not post our website address to the IZCC yet asthe site has only just started and it would be better to for the club to re-enter the world Z scene with a bang when the site is more complete

Steve,

I agree totally that it should be complete before it is unleashed!!

At present I am waiting for several different things to bring the site together as fully operational. I would imagine that the hub of the new site will be these forums. As such I am trying to get a feel of the kind of forums Z Club members would like.

The forum software I have installed has a lot of scope and as more members join the more interactive they will become.

The facility for Z Club members to have their own POP3 accounts, ie. yourname@zclub.net, will be incorporated also.

For the more web-literate members I can set up folders on the server where they can e-mail a few pages about their cars. These will be indexed and the web address will be http://yourcar.zclub.net.

The site will take a while to be completed as I have started inbetween a holiday, to which I depart on Saturday morning. I hope to see some direction from members when I check the forums on my return.

come on now members don't be shy
lets let Mark know what you want on the site
it is only with your help that the site will mirror the clubs magazine so lets flood mark with ideas either by posts or by emails to him

Received an email from Jez, who set up the Heart Of England local ZGroups website, that reads as follows
"A new updated site is a great idea. The forum could prove quite popular, as most forums are US based and therefore not as relevant to UK owners. The ability to upload pictures of members cars would be useful, and &nbsp;perhaps a regular feature car is another possibility.Alternatively, the cover story from the magazine, each quarter could be of interest to non members

Received &nbsp;a flyer from Steve Lack who is the Kent local Z Group Organiser informing of a meeting at The Ice Bowl at Gillingham Business Park on the 24th of February at 1pm
For more information contact Steve on 0208 290 0021

he is also asking that any members that would like to attend or visit the club stand at The Bromley Pageant car show on the last Sunday of June to contact him for more information

Personally I see the format of zcar.com as pretty good one i.e.
- 70-83 Tech
- 84-89 Tech
- 90-96 Tech
- Banter & Chat

- Autos For Sale
- Parts & Accessories
- Wanted To Buy

This seems to cover all bases and allows you to filter out posts you're not interested in...

cheers,
phil

Iprefer most of the IZCCs listing

<ALL> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; = a subject of intrest to everybody
<240/260> = 240/260/280Z
<280ZX> &nbsp; = 280ZX
<Z31> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;= Early 300ZX
<Z32> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;= 90+300ZX
<350Z> &nbsp; &nbsp;= New 350Z
<SPORTS>= race rallying hillclimb etc news
<FS> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; = Z related items and cars for sale
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> as the monthly sales list is on the site
<ZCLUB> &nbsp; =Club related information
<EVENTS> =Sugestions and news of events
<ADMIN> &nbsp;= List administration information
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; (usually reserved for super administators)

It would also be good to have online Z Club membership application forms together with benefits of of being a member included somewere to make joining the club easier

Just a quickie to say well done.

Didn't know that there was a new site with forums (fora?) in preparation. Looking forward to it.

(Now I have to learn a new set of commands - drat&#33<img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Going square-eyed at this time of night so in brief

- thanks for helping with the name change

- this is a General News forum. Is there a case for a general chatty type forum? There might be a case for splitting general news - whether club or nissan etc - from general chuntering about. EG like this one when I wanted to say thanks and make a suggestion.

Toodly pippermost - Gio

Cant wait to upload some pics of my Zed on here as I already have some on the 240z internet site it's address is www.240z.rog it's layout is quite good with a large forum layout which covers things from technical articles to zed camfire stories. it also has a chat room the only problem is that most of the members are in the us and the time difference is a real problem, I have spoken to a couple of nice yanks though, take a look and see what you think.
