Im looking for a pair of turbos but dont want to spend stupid money, where is a good place to look.

Im wanting something better than standard, what about T28?

Thoughts?
Stuart.

Unless you buy a complete kit which is costly you will need to do a lot of work to make any bigger turbo fit. GT28R is as easy as any and work well if you can get them cheep. T28s are reported to be laggy

Thanks Rob, I need all the help I can get,
I know alot about the Z32 engine but I know nothing about turbos.
My turbos need replacing (becuase I pushed them too hard) and are probably the weak link in my engine.

Do you have any recomendations of a good place to look for them?

Stuart

If you over boost the stock turbos more than about 14psi your combustion temps will be to high, which may give you detonation. Pistons or rings will normally fail before the turbo. If the boost has been near the limit for a long time turbos may loose performance and start to leak oil. Are you using oil? If so what’s the state of piston rings etc. I got my turbos from USA search the net and try to avoid the duty!!!.

I am losing oil but its because of the turbos.
The engine is solid,
88mm forged pistons, Over sized metal head gasket, race hardened big and little end bearings.

I did a compression test and they are all between 168-172psi, ( drop in standard compression I put down to over sized pistons and thicker gasket. )
Drop the turbo boost pressure down to about 7-8 PSI no smoke. Put it to about 15psi it smokes, or to be more accurate, it smokes after changing gear after flooring it.

I have a had a little look at GT28R turbos and the issue I have is the 5 stud exhaust pattern. This would mean getting a new flange.
I have had a look at GT28s they are more affordable and have a 4 stud exhaust pattern, because they are a common upgrade for 200SX. Do you have any opinion on those?

I have no first hand knowledge of the other 28s. If you can weld and file it is easy to convert a 4-stud steel down pipe to a 5 stud, that’s what I did.
