Triple Choke Sizes

I've seen there is a set of 48s in Classifieds. They I assume are a bit big for a mildly modified 2.8 (200 bhp).

I like the idea of triples but with smaller choke size for faster air speed.

Am I right in thinking that a 48 can be made into a smaller carb eg 45 or even 40 by inserting a smaller choke tube?

Yes, 48 is the size of the body. The chokes on a DCOE 48 are 36 - 46 I think.
36 would be good I think on a mild L28

Yes 40 bodies- should have 34 chokes in I expect. Only know when you strip 'em!

IMO 40's are the perfect size. They should flow enough on most engines and still give good fuel ecconomy. I remember when I drove down to spa along with charlieboy. I think he was running 48's as opposed to my 40's. I made it their on a tank of fuel and he kept filling up and we were driving at the same speed. I managed over 30mpg.
