um i wonder if i had the TDC on exhaust instead of firing, whipped of rocker cover yes no wonder turned to TDC firing, checked dissy rotor facing opposite way to arrow, whipped out dissy turned 180 degrees put back together fitted leads turned the key and SWEET FRIGIN MUSIC

Great news that it's running, well done. I'm now trying to understand - if you have a dizzy and it was firing 180' out how did it run? I know dizzyless systems have an idle spark i.e. fired at crank speed - but can't understand how your's could. Please explain, thanks.

Well rob initially it was not that far out looking at the distrubitor like a clock when the car was running but slightly rough the engine module was facing the 5 oclock position and number 1 cylinder was facing10 oclock still maybe 120 ish degrees before top dead centre but it did run, when i had it 180 degrees out it would not run due to being set up TDC on the exhaust stroke just gave occasional pop, but when it was set up roughly 120 out on the firing stroke it did run slightly sluggish and stumbled on de-excelreration and only did about 8 ish to the gallon but still had enough umph to leave 30 ft tyre marks, ( should see them now), all i can assume is because the petrol had been put into the bore out of sequence it still lit it when it sparked, maybe it was sparking on the piston down stroke so engine still had a downward momentum rather than on the upward stroke, which would have caused a lot more stress, unfortunately i dont know 100% why it ran, just bloody glad it did.
