Sorry to be Devil's Advocate, but...............

Maybe that car would have been better saved before "Samuri" got hold of it:D

That thing perched on the rear hatch is a 'Spoiler'. Literally.......;)

OK, I'll get me cape.

Alas I fear you are all too late with your incessant pleadings. Jim has just called me and asked to borrow the 9" angle grinder and a few cutting discs for the weekend.
Pity about that, cos I always lend tools to mates, so couldnt really turn him down.

I totally agree!
The story so far;
At the tatton show with my own 240, a chap, out of the blue, told me about a car similar to mine that had been outside some garages since the early nineties. I vaguely knew the area but thought it was worth a look as I sometimes pass near when working. It took me ages to find, but eventually down a dust track there she stood! What a sad sight! This car needs rescuing!but if the owner won,t sell what can we do?Still no answer back.

LOL :D It seems Peter, you are not the only one to have made me laugh during this thread.

Give the car to me, I'll chop it up into bits and help rescue more than one 240Z by doing so.

History ?? It's a modified Z car !! I bet my car's got more bloody history.

Most important observation, none of the bit,s are in Zedhead,s possesion secondly, note! no angle grinder marks, which signifies that the car has remained wholesome for a reason! The owner doesnt seem to want to part with it , so unless he,s under it! he feels it worthy to keep, to the extent of that extra touch and care around the sunroof area.!Bring on the debate!.......................DJZ 60.

I would have thought that if the owner really cared he would have put it under cover somewhere, or at least put a cover over it. I would think it likely he would sell at the right price but if he's under no pressure to sell - he won't. Jim is obviously not going to disclose the location of the car as he doesn't want any interested parties trying to buy the car before him.

Those who view original samuris as collectible will undoubtedly want it to be saved. I think it should be saved if possible as I don't want to see any more z's going to the scrapyard, cos I might want another one one day:)

Well said Abas. All Z,s should be valued! & Not ,taken for granted. Is it no wonder people like Clarkeson take the piss! If this samuri were a Ferrari or any other classic car ,would their club take it for granted? The owner or guardian, possibly took it in as an p/ex or it came in for restoration or repair but it never happened.whatever happen,s to it is up to its possesser .

Well I know where in the country it is, and it's about four hours from me, but I have a nice warm spot in one of the units that would suit it.... no one dare take an angle grinder to it!

Let me at it!

I honestly beleive this car should end up to someone willing to resurect it and not to the angle grinder! It deserves better after the life it,s had.
If the owner agrees to sell I,ll post location to anyone genuinely interseted but until then,Russ, you,re right ,about 4 hours from you.(but then again so,s France!)
In the wind screen there,s a classic Z register sticker,I was hoping, from original post someone knew some history?

Jim, this particular car may be featured in the classic Z register club magazines so if anyone has got any it might be worth looking through them . contact with other club may also be helpful . I think if anyone at this club knew anything you should have heard by now . Calling all, please look through Z related articals and ephemera .Great photo,s Jim......DJZ 60

If anyone has contacts with the Z register would it be relatively easy to obtain details of the car from them?

Or would this be a breach of Data Protection Act etc

I have made inquiries about this Samuri car through other Samuri owner's that I am in touch with and just received one tid bit of info from one owner this morning which commented the following,

"Eric
I remember this car very well, the large rear wing created a vortex which used to suck open the sunroof, resulting in the extensively modified roof clamps. The effect on the aerodynamics rendered the car so unsafe that the european courts ordered it put out to grass, or in this case weeds."

I believe my contact may be posting here soon, but I will leave it to him to introduce himself so as to not take liberites on his behalf.

Can anyone put me in touch with Jim McNab, the photographer that took the Samuri photos? I PM'd him 4 days ago and have yet to get a reply.
