I Agree not a patch on a straight six for looks. I guess it depends on Tony's budget?

Too me it seems like a very cost effective way of acquiring a modern 300hp as Tony asked for, with sensible running costs.
It's just an alternative to the relatively common "RB" route, and still keeps it Nissan.

My personal choice would be an Modern LS, but that comes with extra expense and fuel costs of course.

An SR20DET would reach your power goal with a few mods and be should good for another 100bhp on stock internals.
Swap parts are available off the shelf and I would imagine there would be a bit of weight saving by having two less cylinders.
They also have the added bonus of having a decent gearbox.

That said, they can make the engine bay look a bit empty!

I have to agree with the comments on the 350z engine. That's one seriously ugly engine. I'm sure the new version's of the SBC (LS engines) would work if you lived the other side of the pond but a V8 in a zed just doesn't sound right............Oh, hang on. Just realised that's the route I'm going with the 280z. I take that back. V8 is a great choice as long as its a jap engine. :D

I really like the VQ swaps, it puts the engine in a nice position in the car and I like the idea of keeping it in the Z family.

It is ugly, but it can be made to look nice (see pic above).

I believe aircon + heating ducts are an issue when installing one though?

yeah that is very enticing - but the £50 joiner fee is a bit off putting isn't it?

I like the idea of the jointing fee and it then restricts bidding to the more serious buyer.

small fee based on how much you would save.
Got a Z to finish but quite fancy re-shelling a smashed up RS4 into a poverty spec Passat or something!
