    Hello All,

I've just started a listing on eBay to sell my car, the one on the attached thumbnail. Please take a look, if you're interested. The item number is 262963725947

Very nice, but I never understand why sellers don't sort the reg plate change BEFORE advertising it for sale ... someone I know bought one with a personal plate on it and it took three weeks to get it changed and given a new number ...

Bargain as well, going by some prices being asked.

A friend of mine just sold his car and transferred the plate online instantly. I've left the personal reg on in case the car doesn't sell.

Your car should sell no problem being rhd and sensibly priced relative to condition.
Only thing is the buy it now price disappears once a bid is made, really annoying feature that seems to apply to eBay UK not .com.

Personal numbers can be put on retention online instantly. Transferring from one used car to another still requires sending a V317 to the DVLA and takes around a week. I suspect if you sell you would jut want your number on retention not transferring to another car immediately?

It only goes once the reserve has been hit, same on the .com, so if he's got a start price with no reserve then its in theory sold from the first bid.

OK, thanks for enlightening me to the nuances of eBay Jason ;)
Who's going to try it out then and make the first bid ?

No it sounded fine Jason. I had either forgotten or never knew so a genuine thanks for the pointer, I was being serious :D

I think there is a rule about the reserve having to be a really low % of the buy it now price that makes it unworkable in most cases but maybe that only applies to non-motor sales ?

I usually just use classified for eBay adverts.

It costs a lot to ad a reserve, which is why people place auctions as they do I think? The higher the reserve, the higher the fee IIRC.

    No takers then?

I'm a little surprised at that.

Surprised as well. No reserve yet the first bid is not far off the BIN price so that is in effect the reserve ...

Why not start it at 99p and have a (hidden) reserve? I'm not saying do that I'm merely asking the question ...

If was looking to buy this car I would be looking to do a deal outside of ebay for sure. Isn't that what usually happens? ;)

Is cost the downside of that (ie ebay costs?) if it costs more to have a reserve, I really don't know.

I'm sure this car will sell. makes a mockery of the LHD ones on there for not far off the same price!

Why does it make a mockery?

I think it was missing what panels/bodywork has been done. Looks like cills/rear arches, that would generally mean floors etc, any resto pics? Pics of underneath etc etc?

Just needs a little more effort.

It makes a mockery because most of the £20,000 LHD ones from dealers I'll wager wouldn't be any better than this car.

Can't quite tell from the pic but is the seam there between the rear arch & the sill ? Also thought the front wing looks abit odd where it meets the sill. Thought these things when it was first posted on here but kept out of it to save damaging the sale.
