R35 gtr

Hmmm, its been plastered all over the forum for the past few years, the car pulls a low 11 second 1/4 mile which is quicker than a lot of GTRs, its quicker than ANY GTR that has never run a 1/4:lol:

There are a number of cars on here Graham that may suprise you ;)

If you would like some data check out the clubs long standing record of 1/4 mile racing....the Hall Of Fame

Its a 30 year record of every official 1/4 mile ever run by a Z club member alongside a spec of the car.

We also have a few drivers on here that are no slouch on a circuit either.

Im honestly not a huge fan of drag racing, so dont really follow the info, but will have a look for those threads. These 2 drag races were the first I have done in 4 years of ownership of the GTR.

I know there are a few half decent drivers on here :) do follow some of their antics :driving:

My point was not to promote drag racing per se but to highlight that there are some very quick S30's around, I was just puzzled by the fact that you weren’t aware of Johns spec, to me its always on my radar as is Terry's, Wynn’s etc. etc., not because of drag racing but because they are leading the Z field in performance.

I know of one that I saw on track, but most others I see pictures on drag strips, not seeing many post pictures with the cars on the track.

There was an entire thread about a group that went over to Spa earlier this year complete with track pictures and in car video.........year on year there are dozens of Z track related pictures etc.......from Coombe, Donnington Le Mans or where ever a track event is happening.

Hi Graham - Spa 2015 trip thread below. Some videos on the later pages of some Z's going round!

There's a video of my 240Z going round which has some period mods to it (triples, mild cam, exhaust system and other bits) and I did give it some stick down the straights but kept it very safe / slow around the corners!

I like to think my zed is reasonably quick. It's not really setup for drag racing and more a track/fast road car. The drag time just give an indication of how quick it could be. 11.1s @ 132mph against a standard GTR which normally run 11.7s times. It will keep up with most GTR's around spa and one of my resent video's on the autobahn show it reaching 160mph on the satnav with ease.

Anyway, don't want to get into a "mines quicker than yours", just saying I would love to do a bluntingthorpe day and I don't think the zed would be too embarrassed.

Not bad at all G!!! I know he won but the distance between you was most impressive for a "road" car!!

Round a tack you will likely have him!!

As a track Bruntingthorpes corners favour the car, mostly sweeping fast and easy to get on the power early, where the bike is slow, but that back straight is just ridiculous!!

Was supposed to be a lap of track race, but insurance co said no :D

The R35's are amazing machines. The traction from stand still is unbelievable.

What were the specs on that R33 Graham? Must be 700+hp surely?

Not sure on power of the R33 but I think its the one that won the 1/4 mile at TOTB this year ;) has an MOT, but was trailered there

Its because it takes skill to get get a wriggle on using 2 wheels, with a 50p sized contact patch and no room for error. :)

GTR requires a different level of skill.... yes it makes everyone look better than they actually are but if you make a mistake you are general going 20-40mph faster. Saying that, I do agree with you and its why I also have the MX5 track car and love it

I wasn't talking about skill, I was talking about the engineering behind the R35. Was at the Nissan Event at Donington (noticed your car Graham!) and even the R35's running 700+hp weren't spinning their wheels off the line.. Impressive machines!

Really wanted to have a go in the Time Attack R32 though  that thing was a beast!

Yes amazing machines all of them.

Quite surprised folks could just stand on the track. A puncture could have caused death!

Yes! The aqua blue one. There was a midnight purple R33 that sounded the ******** too, was funny watching the passengers nearly smash their heads on the dashboard every time he changed gear

:)

The purple R33 is Pauls.... fantastic guy and the car was running 700ish bhp, but he broke the turbo at Donington. Car is setup up for sprints and the man can drive, he just loves these sorts of events and spends most of his time sliding the car round the track.

He is having some issues with that car though, at Asda day last year, it was on a 6 speed box and struggled to find 3rd. The box died and then he put a 5 speed in as a quick fix. Then the turbo died at Donington.... new turbo and 740hp :) then at Asda it started to lose coolant, so suspected head gasket.

I try and go out with him whenever I get a chance..... he was told me to drive the car on a few occasions........Here is a lap of my missus (Mel) in Pauls car at Asda last year:-
