Thanks for your compliments should hopefully be running by the end of the month, would be sooner but have to wait to payday for the remaining bits. Its really annoying wanting to finish it off but being held up by the odd required part.
I just hope this one works out as there wont be a bonus this year to build another.

a step closer just waiting for some inlet snouts so I can redo the afm/filter pipe work and some coolant pipes and a few odd and sods and then its time to fire up.

I hope you used up all of your bad juju on the engine before it was repaired. Looks incredible. Big props to all involved. That's a work of art under that bonnet.

I hope all these Skyline Zeds are as fast as they look ;)

Awesome!

Rob, imagine the Nissan Skyline with over 300 banzai horses propelling the said Skyline to 60 in the late 4 - early 5 second bracket. Mod the engine a little and then drop it into a car that weighs just over half a tonne (over 500kg) less than the saloon car. As long as that power is kept on the deck you end up with truly daft speed cars. If getting the arse end down to cope with the loony tunes power delivery doesn't 'de-zed' the handling too much, you're left with a supercar slaying masterpiece. On paper it's incredible but how does the real thing measure up? The guy at Zedfest last year with the white one said that it was getting to 60 in the mid 3's and revving to 9000 was no problem so you were pulling all the time to whenever you chickened out of going forward at Apollo speeds and backed off. I really can't wait to see it moving.

Thanks for everybodies comments I've been meaning to reply sooner but been busy with work and trying to finish the car.
Its finally running and am very happy so far although the MOT run out the Friday just gone so its sitting in the garage till Thursday when its going to Essex for it's MOT and to replace my handbrake cables which have never worked right with the 280zx calipers on the back.
I've turned the boost off while the engine is running in and not going over 4000rpm but even with no boost the car seems nice and lively I can't wait to see what its like when it's all run in and tuned.

Also replaced my electric fan today as the cheap ebay one I bought was just not up to the job so I bought a Kenlowe high performance fan and there is a huge difference I can actually feel the air being blown on my face when it kicks in. I just did not appreciate the difference a good quality fans makes the older ones on the left in the picture below the new is on the right. The only problem is the fan did not come with a mounting kit of any sort so I'm using cable ties at the moment which is a bit naff but it will have to do till I can order something better.

Top quality job Darren, looks very professional. Glad to see you have increased your cooling, once you have run him in I bet things are gunna get pretty hot in there! Shame you missed round 1 on Sunday, the weather was perfect. Hope to see you at round 2 on may17th.

I think I am using the same fan from ebay it was about £70 it does seem to struggle which size of Kenlowe did you go for? I also kept the wastegate open while I ran the engine in, then connected it up after about 500-600 miles. glad to hear it's all running great.

The fan is the high performance 17" universal fan, it only cost £135 so not that bad really. I ordered it from Demon Tweeks the part number is HP17. It fits my radiator perfect and the centre just clears the crank pulley which was a problem with other makes of fan.

I've actually left the wastegates connected just set the boost controller to 0 it starts to go from vacum to boost at 4000 but then I change gear so it never actually get's anywhere. Running the engine in has to be the most worrying part there are so many opinions I just dont want to bugger it at this stage.

I know what you mean, I spent loads of time researching run in processes, and came to this conclusion, crank the engine over and make sure you have oil pressure, ( not running) i did this with the plugs out.then got the engine started, run at fast idle for a short time, switch off check for any leaks and fix any. restart engine bring upto operating temp shut down check again for leaks, change the oil ( gets rid of any run in debris). then drive the car on and off throttle and slightly loading the engine over the first 100 or so miles. change oil again at 500 and then again to fully synthetic at 1000mls.
Alot of people say the first half an hour of the rings life are where they bed in or glaze over if left to idle for too long, I was worried about this so didn't let the car run for long untill I could drive it and properly bed the rings in looks like it worked as I am putting out over 300bhp. go steady and only use at the pod when fully tuned and you're happy.
I am going back probably in july now as I am doing a few mods to the car, water/ alc injection now works really well, and helps prevent any probs with the combustion temps, I also now know where my power band is so won't change gear too early like last year.
