Long time 240Z owner, old Z club member, coming back into the fold.

Hi Guys,

I brought my white 240Z in 1984, used it for 3 years until, starting a family, buying a house and starting up my first business in 1987, it has been in storage since, patiently waiting for me to return, but 30 years latter I am nearly ready to start the rebuild of her.

I am looking to get a new purpose built workshop up in the spring and start on her next year. I was a Z club member years ago, but membership lapsed. So I am now starting to do a bit of research for my long awaited project.

Looking forward to hearing good advice, I am a engineer by profession and ran my own automotive engineering business so not to shabby with a spanner or fluke.

It's been in storage for THIRTY YEARS?! This deserves some pics - is it hidden under pots of paint and boxes of tiles, or kept in some dehumidified bubble ... ?

I can guess which is more likely.

Was it rusty when you put it away - as being 10 years old, it must have been I guess (weren't they all?)

I am not sure, did I buy a body kitted 260 2+2 off you? or sell you a LD28 crank/short engine for a 3lt conversion?

You are quite correct your guess I suspect would be right. LOL. the ownership of the 240Z might be ownership of a big pile of rust!!! still worse case it will be a imported body shell. The car had been restored when I brought it, there was only some slight rust on one wheel arch when she went into storage although it might have spread a little or................even a lot.

I will dig out some photos, form when I had her on the road.

Be good to see some pictures of it from back in day when it was on the road. Any other zed pictures you have of other peoples car be great to see if you took it out to meets

A few photos from around 1984 to 1987. The black 260Z was owned by a club member, I saw it at a club meet perhaps 2001. The Mini was another car I had back then, it had a mass of mods, and was running a 1380cc engine, note the chrome bonnet scoop.

The Blonde was my then girl friend, left her for the woman that became my wife. LOL
