Are you kidding ? No way.

How frustrating would that be plodding along in your motorhome at 60mph with your Z towed behind whilst every one else sails past having fun in their old classics.

Did it once in the early 90s and never again. I was towing a classic behind a normal car ( not a motorhome ) to Essen whilst all my mates were having fun winding up the Germans on the Autobahn in their E Types, Healeys, TRs etc. Getting a snake on at 90mph trying to keep up is not recommended, suffice to say a visit to the nearest laundry required on arrival

So why were you in a motorhome and they weren't ?

Eh ? I wasn't in a motorhome - keep up dear garcon, the clue is in the bit that says not in a motorhome, in a normal car, Granada Scorpio 2.8 Auto from memory for the record, great tow car back in 1990 ;)

We were going to Essen - Techno Classica - you know, the big classic show, car being towed was in the exhibition, TR6 with just 1600 miles from new, couldn't risk putting more miles on it.

Ok, same question and frankly, the best two-cars back in the '90s were those with self-levelling suspension.

The principle is the same.......towing a classic ( with whatever vehicle you care to choose ) whilst all around you are having fun in their classics is not enjoyable and very frustrating, well is to me anyway.

You found any hire companies yet or am I banned from that idea :D

ps - rhetorical question ;) which two cars had self-levelling suspension in the 90's ?

I still want to know why you wanted to tow it, they didn't and what difference it made when you got there.

How can you drive a hired motorhome and a Z at the same time ?

Q1 see previous post re. TR6
Q2 the idea is the French hire company drive it to the site and collect it afterwards, that is what happens at race circuits in the UK. No towing involved.

Not sure what 'fun' you'd have had at the back of the pack anyway and in a TR !

This is France man - no commercial spirit here unless it's to invade you and halp take your money for some high speed rail link scam....

I can highly recommend the one in the picture as long as you don't want it to go back in the bag when you pack up

Ugh - are those clip-ons on that Z ?

Tais-toi :p

I like 'em, don't care what you think.
What's all this snobbery about light covers ? Je ne comprends pas.
Mind you, may look a bit better if the painter hadn't lost the rubber gaskets when he put them back on

I'll be booking chantelope today when I get the info back from them. Price doesn't look bad at €120 for the pitch for 4 nights.

Looks a really nice site John, is that your friend's place ? Could be persuaded to bring the tent out of mothballs.

Although there are huge positives of camping in the heart of the action the downsides just outweigh them on balance. Just a bit too cosy and claustrophobic and a captive punter to site vendors.

Prefer nice showers and toilets, spacious pitches, fresh croissant, proper coffee plus bonus of a nice little drive into and out of the circuit each day

Sorry - but you weren't there back in 2016 or you'd know your references are totally inexact !
We had :

nice clean showers and toilets without much of a wait (if at all).
we roped off our club space - you have seen the photos - massive.
I had fresh, hot coffee every morning and a run out was made on scooter to bring in fresh viennoiserie
....and we could come and go (quickly) all throughout the weekend....just think of the queues to get near the circuit....AND risk missing your track session !

My feeling is you might just as well stall in the holiday inn and watch it on the telly - BEING there is what it's about - atmosphere.

I'd be up for a bit of this. I've been asked by some local classic car owners if I'd like to go with them but I'm sure it would be more fun going with you rowdy bunch. Just one thing, those supplies look like they might only last me until lunch time :D
