Probably needs a good rev to clear out all the burnt carbon ;)

Car looked great, and despite the usual and boringly predictable posts in the middle of this thread, it was great to see a Z on the TV, and we should all celebrate that.

Thanks MikeB/Philbrads - good of you to take the time to say so.

For anyone who missed the show it is repeated on the TV tonight (Wed) on BBC2 at 11.25pm.

It' a stainless steel system that was handmade for me by a brilliant company in Macclesfield called JP Exhausts.

JP are a well known exhaust fabricators around here; I think most of Cheshire Plainz have had an exhaust from them at some point! I had my Fujitsubo modified by them to align better under the trans tunnel. Very nicely done.

........... Been wondering if I should re-post in on its own new thread as it is a bit lost here on page 12 of this one!

Just above tick over then

Seriously though, congrats you must be very happy

Yes, post it in Videos.

Ok, purely for comparison with a 'standard' Historic 70s Roadsports HSCC car your lap with the Stig ? driving was approx 27secs slower. Your car has the larger engine too.

Riddler - Charles Barter is in his late 60s too. ;) Oh and he uses a bit more than 4,500 rpm.

Charles is very well respected by those who follow HSCC events.

And your point is? I made it clear that The Stig was not driving at flat-out racing speeds. He was just giving the car a bit of a blast round the track for sound-check purposes with a rather nervous owner (me) sitting next to him who had limited him to 4500 revs to protect the car! Had he really been going for it he would no doubt have done it much, much faster - we've all seen him in action on Top Gear!

And why the question mark after Stig? See the link below - this was the guy who drove me round Oulton:

By the way - I put no revs restriction on Damon Hill or James May!

The only point was to show just how quick these cars can go. I was also having a bit of fun, don't worry Charles' 240Z is a 'flyer' and he is an ex champion driver.

I'm still not sure what circuit Damon and James used (there are 3 configurations) because I seem to remember the lap on TV being 1.30 something - or am I wrong. Also what is the time representing on the comparison pictures i.e. 4.30 something, that might help.

No idea really! The maths lost me a bit. And all I saw on the day was them setting off and returning - I didn't see the route. But if the two of them agreed the Datsun was the winning sports car I was not going to argue!!

Access to the BBC link is limited to the UK, is there any other site where we convicts can view the show? I believe Damon is viewed somewhat indifferently by UK F1 folks but I like him and was impressed with his Jordan drives..

Yep listened again and the laps were about 1.30 so they cut the huge Shell Oils hairpin loop out or they are just making the numbers up?
