Aiming for completion by the Nissan Experience day at Donnington which is around June/July 2015. I did this year in the GTR and it was great fun, so hoping to take the GTR and the Z!! Also got to drive a Skyline 2000GT which was awesome and was the nail in the coffin for me to get into the classics

Yes, it will more than likely be blasted.... going down to bodyshop to discuss options this weekend.

Would love to have a go in an old Skyline, especially around Donington! Lucky man :p

Went down to the bodyshop today.... car is mostly stripped and the remainder of the items will be stripped. No more hidden nasties, the front inner fenders are the worst and sadly its general the first thing to go. Sunroof has been removed and no damage there, just need to seal it up and get a new rooflining.

Shell and parts will getting blasted in the early parts of January.

I need a couple of parts, but nothing too serious:-

1. Passenger side fender (worst case I only need the front section/half)
2. Front windscreen, it had a few chips in the screen, but they cracked when the screen was taken out
3. Front slam panel (well not sure if thats the right name, since the bonnet does not close on it)
4. Dash repair or dash console (Im sure I saw a fibreglass replacement on this site)

Looks like everyone is confident to have the car finished by spring 2015, the aim is to have it ready for a Nissan Experience day.... which looks possible :)

Honestly not sure.... will discuss with the bodyshop once the car has been blasted

From personal experiance the only way that seems to reliably work is a new or SH roof skin, tig'd and filled plate work is tricky due to the subtle curves involved.

What's the issue with keeping the sunroof if you can properly rust proof the existing bits and find new rubber seals?

Seems a lot less hassle, no?

IMO (and yes my opinion, it's not my car) I'd remove it now whilst you are renovating the body.

They were a 'fad'.

Would you let someone do that to your GTR?

However I think Johnny Palmer likes his.

A webasto would be period I think?

What about one of throttletons roof skins and have that blended in?

I had a very expensive CF roof skin made way before FRP, it was ok but it wasnt anywhere near as good as a proper roof

As for leaving it..........may as well buy the slippers and tarten blanket to go with it as well

Its a rust trap
It detracts from value
It compromises integrity particularly if you want to ever run it around for a track day
They leak
Their naff
And over about 120 the Webasto is a liability

Parts update

1. Passenger side fender - sorted, just awaiting delivery
2. Front windscreen - more than likely going for the heated screen
3. Front slam panel - still looking for this
4. Dash repair or dash console - still looking for this

Can you clarify? What/where is the panel you are looking for?

Is it the top part of the radiator support panel?

Thats the one

Not my car, but its this panel

Ah, OK.

I have a complete - NOS - Nissan factory replacement - radiator support panel if you need it.

It's the whole panel that the radiator mounts to, and includes the top ledge - as in your photo - which the bonnet prop rod mounts to.

Haven't got a photo handy. I'll have to take one for you.
