idle problem

I have started the car every morning and she has yet to stay running when cold. I have to stay and keep the throttle depressed slightly untill she's warmed up a bit before she'll tick over. is it just because it's old and needs tlc or because it's been tuned slightly or is it just a simple idle control problem. thing is i'm not familiar with these cars at all here is a pic of the engine also. she had a full engine overhaul and has only 38,000 on the clock. i was gonna send it to nissan but they are useless here and would probablypu an apprentice workin on it like most of them do these days

Hey - another 300ZR! Not a model many are familiar with in the UK. 2 seater or 2+2?

Would suggest that either the water temperature sensor for the ECU has packed up / lead off / plug corroded, or the throttle by-pass valve is stuck shut. The ECU probaly has a self-diagnostic to help assessment, but as I've never had a chance to work on this model I can't be sure which version you would have - check the Z31 and Z32 sections in "Articles". As the engine is the early configuration of the VG30DE later used in the Z32 NA, I'd plump for the Z32 diagnostic as a starter...

was a Zr lol. 2+2 mate. this started off as a ZR but has turbo now and intercooled.do you know if this engine came turbo'd from factory or did they just come N/A. also would the dipstick from a 300 z32 N/A fit this as mine is broken and i can't dip for oil. can't get much help over here cheers again

The 300ZR was never supplied turbo as standard - was the engine built with turbo in mind or just externally modded? I could see the pipework suggested turbo, but no more! More pics...? Article for the magazine soon???

Re. dipstick - I'm reasonable sure that the later VG30DE dipstick should cross over, but the guide tube may be angled differently...
