How sporty is a Z31?

Having looked at Daklow's gallery photos it got me thinking about Z31s - how sporty are they?

Have they been used in competition in the UK racing, rallying, drag?

Driving wise they are more of a grand tourer than a sports car. Saying that they handle very well and pull nicely. Found that the gearbox has long gears in it (especially 3rd), than the shorter sports gearboxes of other cars.

I've had 3,(as well as several 280s over the years)currently restoring a manual uk one in white, and have to say imho they are the epitome of eighties Japanese sports cars. Check out Paul Newman racing(ands winning) in the z31 on you tube...and there's an Outlaw running 1/4s in the 7 sec range too...

Z31 turbo quicker in a straight line than a stock 240Z. Add decent shocks and some anti-roll bars and it is pretty quick through the corners as well. Top speed touching on 150mph.
All from the comfort of your own armchair...

SWB examples (non-UK) even better.

Modified 200ZR variant - as hard as nails...
