Just about to cut out the bottom part of the air tube as you can see rusting from the inside
I wonder how many other cars are doing the same without the owners knowing

I'm Glad I've decided to remove the whole of the air tube after seeing whats in side as i do want this to be rust free as i can get it.:

Now cut of the part of the air tube where it joins the A post as there was some rust staring to form where the air tube meets the A post, so its got to go to eradicate the rust even though its only surface rust can't get to it without removing this section.:rofl

Good works Derrick, glad to see I'm not the only one doing major surgery, Good luck!.

The pictures are acting as links to a Yahoo login page, so unless you have an account you can't view them other than as a thumbnail on the post above.

It's because:
1) flickr is owned by Yahoo
2) flickr accounts are Yahoo accounts
3) they require you to be signed in for those pages
4) BT webmail is actually just branded Yahoo mail
5) you've got BTs webmail
6) when it checks if you're signed in on the flickr page, it detects that you're not, but you do have a BT/Yahoo cookie
7) so it asks you to sign into your BT Yahoo account

4 is half remembered, 5 is a guess. It all seems to fit tho!

Derrick, do you think maybe it would have been just as easy if not easier to have built the car from scratch? :p

I take my hat off to you sir ;)

It's about time you joined us for one of the local Thursday or Friday evening meets don't you think ;) :driving:

Derrick you have made a great job of that Airtube, so I can understand how satisfying it must be to cut out 'rubbish' and replace it with good metal. I did that in many areas on the old track car and it was rewarding but 'never again'. Mind you I said that after the Ford Anglia (before the Datsun).

If you meet-up guys let me know I will join you again if I'm free.

Great work on the fabrication there ... ! It can't be any fun to chisel off rusty metal to find more rusty metal ... but you'll get there. If there was a prize for the most dedicated restorer of a Z on this forum, you would win it.
