So ok having now had a look this one mistake could well be a catastrophic one.

Haynes 40 lb ft
Nissan 94 - 108 lb ft.

Good job I use the Nissan workshop manual when working on the engine.

another is the input shaft bolt for the diff but it was a few years ago and my memory is a little fuzzy, but I like to use both manuals at the same time just to double check.

naz2k5 have you checked the classifieds as there is a 240Z in your budget on there

That was a great project for a great price. I was seriously considering going after it too -obviously not off the mark anywhere near fast enough!

looked great, actually should've gone for it, thinking about it now.

how hard would it be to source/import an interior?

An interior for what? There's various differences between early and later 240Zs, early and late 260Zs, with variance in the price and availability of the associated parts.

Kind of academic as naz didn't buy the car.

Always good to do your home work though naz! I had a similar experience 3 years before I got mine where there was the perfect car for my budget but I let it go.

That was no bad thing, it made me do a lot of home work and know what I'm getting into. As the gentlemen here have said there are many subtle but important differences between 260 and 240 models and for each of those there are market variations and some changes between the years for the same model in the same market. So you need to be aware of them if you plan to import.

Parts also vary greatly in price; you can get a good deal or get ripped off on eBay but you will also find trusted sources such as Peter McDonald (PMAC) or Mike (Mr.F) who are very reliable with reasonable prices and ooooodles of experience / great advice. Also google places like the z store in the US and look at their prices for bits. Some are worth buying others cheaper to source here.

My advice is be patient, it's never the last car or the best, there is always another with it's own interesting facets!

I know how that feels ;)

You know this yourself but make sure you go to buy/look it over with someone else who knows cars - I'm a head rules heart person and have bought over 50 cars (majority not for me!!!) so I should know not to look too keen and thoroughly check it over; yet when I saw mine in the flesh I completely missed the Ferrari F430 parked next to it until my wife pointed it out!!! When the engine fired up I was ready to type in my PIN!! I drove away not realising the headlights weren't working !!! You get the jist!

Trust me you'll go Z blind and you'll need someone to pull you back and think with your head as opposed to your right foot! ;)
