I don't plan on changing the box unless it's absolutely neccesary, I think that the original issue is curable from the replies I have had, thanks all. And although not brilliant, I can live with having to double clutch until such times as I can replace the syncromesh on second gear.

good god :eek:Rob and George
throw the manky old box out and get a newer one and far better driving experience

Next people will all be saying because it is a Samuri it should run on ****** old tyres from the period

I really dispare at times but hey everybody is entitled to their Opinion

But for the life of me can not see this purist view on this for after all the Sams deviated from the original as they modified the car and as such improved the driving experience of the car

Beat me to it Burnsie !
What front spoiler have you Jonathon - original hand-made steel one ?

Even their brake kits were made up of what was lying around and could be made to fit !

Purist view? We'd all be members of the Z register.

Agree with you, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Whats that got to do with it, I am no purist. I could have done had it not been for the logistics as you know perfectly well. The car has a 260 2+2 centre console, and god knows what other bits have been added and removed over the years. My knowledge is far from extensive enough to even try to claim a purists view...

The box is far from beyond repair is all I am saying, whose to say that another one is guaranteed to be any better (although that one Tel240Z sold last week on ebay may have been a fix for the synchro's)

Jonathon I have a 240 gearbox with a weak 2nd gear synchro. I don't need it and I can't see it being worth anything, If you can be bothered to come and get it you could rebuild it at your leisure if the box in your car is drivable for now. Or you may find it better than the one you have in which case you could swap boxes and fix yours.

However, in light of recent forum events, you've got to be prepared to have the information poked at you on a stick through the bars of a cage........:)

The point was addressed to Rob G with a tongue in cheek (and no lube neither) - I don't fell any car not least a Samuri should have orginal Nissan parts...........!
